Population was useless in EU3, but remove provincials decision and national focus ... why ?
The first was awesome for modding, and the second was awesome to turn an area into a great economic center, or a colonial area into the " capital " of yours colonies.
I mean, there isn't " best cities " in the new world, and the colonies can't be the same as the history. The power of EU is that you do yours own colonies, and decide to turn one area into a futur awesome city.
Ok trade nodes will decide it, but don't understand why remove some stuff wich is basic and very usefull for modding !

The hordes look promising!

One inherent challange with fitting the hordes into the new idea system, is that they generally didn't develop and increase their horde skillz during the game timeframe, but instead stagnated and declined. One way to approach this could be to flip the NI system upside-down for the hordes. They start the game with all their NI bonuses, and have National Ideas that are negative, and slowly negates their starting bonuses. This would mean that the hordes are at their strongest when the game starts, and then declinces. That is, they decline IF they buy other ideas. So, it sets up a choice between sticking with the traditional ways, and remain very strong military wise, or skipping the old ways and lose their military might gradually.

Yeah, I think provincial decisions should be included because they can really add a lot to the "history" of a province.

A couple of quick questions:

1. Do hordes still become restless when at peace for too long?
2. Can hordes still take provinces outside of peace deals?
3. Have you changed Tribal Succession Crisis anything?
4. How does the power balance between the Rus states and the Steppe hordes look in you test games. Does Russia always end up taking the steppe?

Also, I would love if hordes could threaten neighbours and demand "tribute, or else".

Great. Hordes were my favourite nations to play in preDW in multiplayer. I'll will love to see them be threat again, while desperately trying to reform (and not have that horrible rebelfest).

Cool, Hordes. How tough are they in playtesting? I imagine the lack of a vast GH means they're less tough, but how long do they generally survive?

Also, I think the military tab should also give you terrain infomation, e.g. mountains and rivers etcetera a la Victoria 2. Players should learn quickly which provinces are easy to defend and which are not.

The word 'buildings' on the tab could be replaced by a .gif of a wall of bricks several pixels high, to save on space. No idea what could replace the word 'province' though.

I think that it might be better to swap around the trade and military queue section, that way all the province information goes on top, while the military stuff goes on the bottom. Sort of like this:

I also agree with yabba's Idea that that "the military tab should also give you terrain infomation, e.g. mountains and rivers etc", possibly add a small image of what terrain type the province is, possibly that blank spot near the picture of the fort in the military tab.

No, the mechanic was removed entirely.. caused too much hassle with other features, and in the end we had about a dozen province decisions so it went the way of the dodo.

national focus had no practical benefits anymore, it was just a moving "tax boost", so it got yanked last autumn.
