what medical science has long concluded.

It has?

Quick, you'd better get writing to all those scientists, doctors, historians, sociologists, demographers, cartographers, psychologists, educators, researchers, and authors who are still debating it. It seems they didn't get the memo that "all has been concluded".

Hate to say it, but I'm not looking forward to this at all. Part of the attraction of Paradox's games for me have been how they're historically modeled. Such a bummer, I'll have to pass on this one...

Oh wait, is this randomized new world optional in the expansion? So I can take advantage of the other extra features of the expansion and pass on the randomization?

Well, colour me impressed. I had been holding off buying EU4 since it just looks like a cleaner EU3, but if we get one or two more expansions on this level that may change.

One of the best mods for EUIII making a comeback as an expansion in EUIV! Excellent move!

Will aboriginals be randomly generated too, out of a pool perhaps? Or will the Americas always generate with the same tribes?

So if I'm understanding correctly, the continents will literally be random? Not just the natives? North America could be an amorphos blob and South America could be completely exact to it's real life specifications?

like others have posted the random americas isn't something i'm interested in. i have very little faith that paradox can seriously get it done right on their first try. not to knock down paradox, but look at the civ series. it took them a long time to get good at random maps

and that's fine because i dont have to play with random america option on.

all the other DLC features mentioned, either in hint, implied or even me hoping for, seriously rock. colonization has been needing some serious love for a long time. i hope this DLC is it

First, I'm really excited about this DLC. Being from North America, I'd like to actually PLAY in North America and not always be a part of the European Melee...

I have to ask, in light of what I was expecting from the American Dream DLC, and didn't receive...

Will I be able to release an early United States, Canada or Quebec and play as them? (I define early as the first 100 years of gameplay) Thanks in advance.

Edit:More First Nations tribes would be excellent and a random North America makes me salivate for the future and MAYBE having a full randomized map... One can dream...

How much focus will the dlc have on randomized north america? is it just a minor feature or a key that ties it all together?

It's one of the important thing i guess. The key thing is the rework of colonization and natives. That will affect EU gameplay the most.

I really hope colonization, which is one of the most exciting thing of this era, be more than a "press one button to colonize here" deal.

They said you can choose to play as the colonial state you create and then seek your independence

With this expansion, your colonies in the Americas will take on a new form; the larger ones will actually become free nations that serve as your colonies. They will have a limited independence and you can get money and trade power from them, but they will also live their own life, colonizing, fighting Native Americans and maybe even rebelling and striving for liberty from their motherland. You can squeeze them hard if you want, but then you might get into trouble down the line (or you can just change sides and play as a colony).

I'm so on board this ship.
Not so much for the randomly generated new world (although very interesting on paper, possibly giving spooky results -I'll have to see more dev diaries-), but at least for all the rest!
Bring it on, PDS! :D

So, playing Europeans in North America before 1544? I'm guessing no, then.

Question, is it possible for there to be technologically advanced native empires in the Americas? Like European or muslim tech levels? It would be interesting to see North Americans colonizing Europe, so to speak.
