I wonder if there'll be a difference between advanced natives (those of the Andes and Mesoamerica in our world) and more primitive ones : those of North America.

For me it made little sens to give them the same tech group and the same flavor.

So, speculation time:
- The random new world might lead to players putting more emphasis on rounding Africa for trade.

Conquering Paradise
It’s time to explore a more interesting America. In Europa Universalis IV: Conquest of Paradise, managing your overseas colonies is going to get a bit more interesting. When you send lots of people across the sea in the age of sail, controlling them might not be the easiest thing in the world. With this expansion, your colonies in the Americas will take on a new form; the larger ones will actually become free nations that serve as your colonies. They will have a limited independence and you can get money and trade power from them, but they will also live their own life, colonizing, fighting Native Americans and maybe even rebelling and striving for liberty from their motherland. You can squeeze them hard if you want, but then you might get into trouble down the line (or you can just change sides and play as a colony).

I guess that the above will mean:
- No coring and no OE in the new world, this new colony mechanics will handle things instead.
- No moving of capitals to America.

Still, that raises some questions about places that can't be treated like colonies in America like:
- Siberia? Handling it like a overseas colony would be silly.
- Smaller islands, which doesn't seem realistic to treat like semi-independent entities? (I think that Siberia and small islands are the places where the current system works best.)
- Africa & Spice Isles? Here the idea of killing off the natives is unrealistic in most cases, and need to be treated more like conquests. (I'm sure that the experts on the history of those areas will drag up several examples of colonizeable provinces that should have nations in them. I think I have seen the Horn of Africa and Western Java mentioned.)

It would be interesting to see more speculation about nations that might be added.

Will these new dominions apply to Asian colonies as well? Colonies in a loose sense of the word, I plan on killing a lot of India in my next MP Venice game.

I'm a little concerned about what the colour of the autonomous colonies will be, I hope they will be the same colour as the parent nation and have the nation's name written over the colony.

This is really awesome, I love that you're making the random new world an option, so convenient for every purpose. I'm really excited to see how the colonial system will work, I've been hoping that the first expansion to the game would focus on colonization for a while.

Looking forward to autonomous colonies, but randomized world and other fictional stuff doesn't sound exciting. Sorry, doesn't look like the best expansion ever at all. I really hoped for faction/internal politics system.

<3 thanks paradox looks amazing, and your policy really shows what a great company you are, not many companies that would allow everyone to use an expansion as long as the host has it, or provide some of the features completely free in an update

quite simply the best qoute ever---

Great! At first, I was all like "oh noes... not another alternate history Sunset Invasion..." but then I finished reading and I was like "OH F****** YES!!! TAKE MY MONEY NOW DAMMIT!!!".

I'm really excited about it, that's what I'm saying.

Good point, it's all a bit weird in this part of the world in EU4, isn't it?

Well, as I was among those who gave input into the design of that part of the map way back in the EU3 beta, and made sure of the rough province-border/state-border equivalency, so it jars me every time I see it. :p

could be that it is already asked but I don't have time to scroll through 18 pages of text
But what is going to happen with the startscreen (the one where you select a nation)? becaus it would kindoff defeat the purpose off having a randomized continent if you can see it everytime you load up your game.

It's been asked once for every page of the thread. Sometimes twice per page.

We don't know. But we're sure that there will be a solution. We already know that the mini-map now doesn't show TI land, only land that you have discovered. Presumably the start screen will be the same. Or it will only show the static parts (e.g. Europe,) and the Americas area will be blank, unless you load a game in which you've already discovered it.

Not quite excited about the random stuff, but anyway i can toggle it off. For me I would like to see things more "true" and historical..

The autonomous colony sounds cool and more real than the current system (for colonies in the new world). It will be quite interesting in managing the colonies... I hope it's more dynamic, so that things can change depends on your management and luck (so that large colonies may claim independence, or remain semi-independent, or finally become a true part of the parent nation)

"Kill all the natives" should be more difficult!
