Will the mechanic be expanded to elsewhere in future patches/expansions?No. The colonial nation mechanic is only for the New World (North and South America) as most other things in this expansion.

Isn't that the British Red Ensign, in addition the flag of the Kingdom of Hawai'i?
Did you just take a picture with your camera or phone and upload that?
If the Portuguese colonise whole South America (as I like to do), will it be a huge Brazil or will there be a lot of Portuguese colonial nations?
To assist in this we have divided up the North and South American continents into Colonial Regions. When a nation amasses 5 or more overseas cities in a single colonial region, those provinces will unite to form a new Colonial Nation.
I'd rather have the option at all times (what if you would like to see the colony grow first and then switch).
Then you are probably playing a different game than 99% of people here, because in MY game vassals attach to my armies and allies reinforce battles I´m fighting.

Yeah and maybe add some specificities for other parts of land too, so "colonize africa" and "colonize america" would bring different type of game on the table. This would actually be quite awesome.
Honestly in this time frame they shouldn't leave the continent in most cases.A colonial nation will presumably get full manpower and force limit from its own provinces, so it could potentially recruit a fair number of troops, more than you get at present from having distant overseas provinces. I suppose the question then is whether the AI will build and use enough transport ships to bring the troops to where they are needed. Players may be disappointed if they try to turn their American colonial empire into old world military power.
I think the point of colonies in this game is principally money and prestige, or at least it's supposed to be; some of the extras we get now, like manpower and largeness for Curia/diplo-vassalisation purposes, are fringe benefits (and largeness has its fair share of disadvantages).
Please include the ability to retain direct sovereignty over the colonial states. I like the idea, but I also want the option for more centralized control.
We have added quite a few alternatives for likely and not so likely colonizers, with Jadida Granada perhaps not appearing in all our games (even though it did appear in our office MP with Johan playing Morocco)
Will colonial nations form if you don't have the DLC? If they do, will you be able to switch to a colonial nation (independent or otherwise?) without it?
As you read this, the Paradox Development Studio offices in Stockholm are probably much more quiet than usual. Why you ask?
I am very interested in this, would probably buy it just for this. I do wonder though how this will work with people who don't have the DLC.
