This hotfix is awsome. The idea of institutions is for example wonderful. But i love to play as Ottomans and now they are completly broken because i have to core almost all of Anatolian beyliks provinces! Why? And AE is also a bit harder, Karaman and Ramazan created a coalition against me!

Don't mess with startdate prior to playing since that causes bugs.

They actually reduced AE because too many ottoblobs complained about it not being easy enough

One comment I have seen on this suggests to think of it as the sieging army being forced back out of the province the way they came in and they now have the river behind them which gives them manoeuvre problems and so makes it legitimate to have that malus there.

I accept that it is a matter of opinion here but it was a deliberate design choice (I have seen that confirmed by at least one developer) rather than it being a bug and it is something that players will just have to get used to as I cannot see Paradox changing it before 1.19 and then only if, with the benefit of months of play, they feel it is definitely a wrong decision.

Hmm - but is the river crossing penalty based on the province from which the attacking army joined the siege? Or the province which the defending army used to begin the seige in the first place (potentially quite some time ago?).

I just got hit by that -3 penalty playing as Tunis and attempting to siege Fez, it's pretty nasty. I'm still a fan of the change, makes forts a lot more strategic and I will be thinking about forts when invading a lot more carefully now. If I can avoid the -3 by finding a way into that province without a river crossing then at least it's within my control - but even then an attacking army could arrive many many months after the siege began and I'm not sure it's always going to be easy to remember whether the original crossing was via river or not?

As I understand it, it is based on the province that the sieging army entered from, however long ago that was.

I really dont understand why do they keep buffing Stronktomans patch after patch, not only the dev, but the channel crossing, the new vassals, Austria not able to ally France for strange reason (historical ennemies... Dat Joke). I'm thinking that some people are willing a strong muslim nation in the game, so you know, some customers will maybe join the expensive universalis. And now, well, chosing heir, westernization way easier hm.

Game Crashing Losing Data EU4 v1.18.3.0 Prussia

Hello this is my second post on here and I truly love this game.
I have been playing (Start Date 1444, Holland, In personal with Burgundy) Iron Man Hard. When I hit the 1740's the game crashes and loses my auto save file. In this instance at about 1740-50 the game crashed sent an error report, when I relaunch and go into Saved Games I'm only left with a 1725 Auto Save.
There are also many other bugs in the game:
- After Ship Battle incorrect number of surviving Ships
- I've had this happen twice, Map does not Light up when owned. Looks like your provinces are in fog of war. Troops look like "Exiled" without black flag.
- Trade Nodes displaying incorrect information: "Transferring 5.00 to English Channel" when in "Trade Map Mode". Hover over "Incoming Amount" in "Trade Node" "English Channel" displays 3.85.
- Conquistadors stop moving (Almost every province sometimes, when running into Native lands) when searching for 7 Cities. This sometimes does work eventually after about 50-60 years of restarts. This is easily forgotten and annoying.
- Not sure if this is intended mechanic, almost impossible to Conquer native lands in North/South America Pre 1687 if you're on time with your Admin Tech. Can only fabricate claims while you have colony's, once 5 are created Colonial Nations no longer count as cored land and no claims can be made. Even still the penalty for Distance when spying on a far away neighbor doesn't make it worth it to have your diplomat tied up for 1200+ days making a 20 cost Claim.
- When clicking "Goto Province" when on the opposite side of the map (Say from viewing "Philippines Area " and going to a Pop up with "Goto Province" in North/South America, the game brings you to the Arctic until the Goto button is clicked again. (Or you go there manually cause its frustrating)
- Nothing in Ledger about Pirates. They pirate my nodes, sure I get a pop up. When you hit empire stage, and you get 10 pop ups every 6 months you click by them. I Should be able to find out which node have pirates in them in the ledger so I can send the right amount of ships. Not the Manually clicking through 15-16 plus nodes to check for pirates. The only time I really notice it is when my gold from Colonial Nations starts dropping, and I'm forced to find out where I'm losing 20+ gold in the Trade Route from Australia - English Channel.
Well this is from 2 games forming the Netherlands. I stopped playing both from Crashes with lost save files of about 30-40 years.

- AI doesn't add addinational accepted cultures even if they are ahead of DIP tech like 10 years.
- AI does declare suicidal wars on same country over and over again and lost every one of them.

There is something annoying/buggy don't really know if someone reported it already, it has to do with Institutions.

Open Technology tab, open Institutions, Feudalism is embraced, the map will turn green etc.
Now click on Renaissance, in my game its not embraced yet, so the map turns to political view.
Now click on Institutions again (n) and you are back to Technology tab
Click again on Institutions (n)

The Renaissance tab is still selected and you see the map is changed as to what Feudalism is.
Don't know if its a bug or intended but its pretty much annoying.

Austria not able to ally France for strange reason (historical ennemies... Dat Joke).
The HAB/FRA alliance occurred with awkwardly high reliability (due to mutual rival-marking of Burgundy) and resulted in France not actually pursuing its historic ambitions (as well as creating a horrible AI hugbox). You do not need to invoke some kind of sinister marketing-driven plot to make the game more appealing to Muslims to explain that one.
