Hi all,

I just bought Chronicles from the paradox store and activated it on steam. I am well aware that steam only lets you play off Divine Wind, am I playing the best version of the game or just the "divine wind" expansion?

I have just thrown myself into it and its rather complicated but very enjoyable. Are all the features of the other expansions replaced by Divine Wind or are they all combined so I get the best version of the game?

All of the expansions are included in Chronicles. IMO (and many would agree) it's not quite the best version of the game, though - mods make it better

There's a beta patch that changes quite a few things, you might want to check that out.

Those two are the same thing. You will have 5.1 which is the latest and greatest. And you have access to the current beta of 5.2, but make sure you copy your 5.1 installation to somewhere outside Steam and apply 5.2 over that only. That way Steam will not try to "fix" it back to 5.1 and if anything goes wrong with the 5.2 install you don't have to re-install 5.1 to repair things.

I see, so im not missing out on any of the stuff contained in Napoleons Ambition or Heir to the throne for example, thats all combined in Divine Wind?

That's right, the data, characters and features from those are all in there (except any features that were superseded in later expansions). Look in your EU3 /localisations/ folder, you'll see data files names for each expansion and they are all still used. For instance Napoleon was not in the original EU3, he was introduced in NA, and is still there in DW due to NA.

Ok thats great, I just red a lot of complaints about how Steam delivered the game so that you couldn't access vanilla EU3 so I was unsure. I have to say its very complicated compared to EU2 (which I loved) but so far im really enjoying the learning curve. I guess playing Divine wind as your first EU3 experience is quite a challenge! Excellent game so far

Urgh vanilla EU3. No missions, no auto merchants, pirates and the old CB system. Not a fun game IMO
Believe me, you are much better off with the expansions than without.

Not so much vanilla EU3 but some people prefer the previous expansion (Heir to the Throne) over Divine Wind. Also some mods made for older versions may not have been updated for Divine Wind.

We are assured that's the intention, but Johan is fully engaged on EU4 right now so it awaits some free time from him and the QA team. My uninformed guess would be something in the region of a month before EU4's release, if the last part of the development cycle goes like CK2's did.

3.2 and 4.1 final patches also were released in the last months before the next expansions were released.
