Yea, I love EU2. The game locks up constantly. Sometimes it may play fine for hours and other times it locks up repeatedly. I was playing as the Ottoman Empire and it locked up a couple times in 100 yrs of playing, but I began a GC as Albania and it has locked up EIGHT TIMES by 1434! I played Ottomans at 1024x768 with 1min=2yrs. I started Albania as such, but due to the lock ups I dropped it to 800x600 and 1min=4months and still happens. I have fog of war on too.

I have a 500mhz Celeron with 128 RAM. I have never had problems with other games, so this must be a problem with EU2 (which I suspect since SF released EU2 in a beta form!). I have the "false 1.02" installed too. I hope the real 1.02 is out soon and the game plays better.

Until than, EU2 shall collect dust...

Have you considered that perhaps it might not be the game? After all, not everyone has quite the trouble you do. Also, you didn't mention what else you may be running at the time. AOL-IM tends to make machines crash badly when running in the background for example.

Nope, I don't have any programs running. I boot computer up and start EU2, than it locks up. I can play Half-Life mods online, Madden 2002, Max Payne, and other newer games I have all day without a problem. So must be a problem with EU2. I am using Windows ME by the way.

Make sure you disable any Anti-virus apps, and any other resident progs. Try running it with No Music. And finally, if you were considering upgrading your memory go ahead! Ram is pretty cheap and EU2 can make use of as much as you can throw at it.

No anti-virus program or resident programs either. I have the music turned off too hearing repeating music is annoying - I just throw in Pink Floyd or classic rock in general.

As for RAM, it might be "cheap", but I am poor, though I would gladly accept any donations of RAM. :)

Today I uninstalled EU2 and reinstalled it. Than loaded it up and played a GC as China. This is version 1.00 too. It played fine and only locked up once after 30 years, or 2-3 hours of play. So a lot better than the pseudo-1.02 that locked up on me eight times in 20 years!

Thus I conclude 1.02 makes my EU2 unstable and causes it to lock up, therefore I shall stick to 1.00 and wait for the real 1.02 to be released and try that.
