Europa Collector's Edition Crashes at Launch

I purchased Europa collector’s edition and am trying to run it on my Alienwear Monster desktop pc that far exceeds the system requirements of this game and the game doesn’t launch. The game flashes a green screen then launches without any visuals. Then I hear the music in the background but there is nothing else. I have tried everything from a another clean install, verifying my cache, changing to beta 1.8 / 1.7 / then back. Deleting the local content and trying it over again, but still I can't play this game.

Does anyone have a fix for it? it’s really annoying and I'm about to ask for my money back from steam.

Since there is no collector's edition of For the Glory and you mention 1.8 betas, I'm going to say this is an EU4 question. Hang on tight for the thread move.

please try installing:

First: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8328

Then: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

(If that doesn't do anything then http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 )

Then: visit the Windows Update site and allow it to apply all .NET updates/patches it wants to, for all .NET versions.

(BTW I wasn't aware there was Collector's Edition. Do you mean the EU4 Collection?)
