ummm anyway, two days to go!!

A friend of mine has asked to join. He is an old WIF-player like Fred and Frosty and me. I think he could do well if we would like to fill that last spot. What do you think guys?

German belligerence has been successfully edited to 1.
(Yeah not 0 because you admitedly shared some blueprints with Japan, and most of all this was hard work. )

Do you refer to the last spot as Nat. Spain? I have seen to many games when that country decided to join Axis and was like an open door into Europe for the allies. But this I have already warned you about. I have also seen a fair number of games where Nat. Spain player got bored and left the game putting the axis in a precarious situation.
There is to consider, that once you get a minor, chances are it will be really hard to find a sub for that particular nation if need arise.
Anyways, I have nothing against adding one more person.

What I want is for us to have a real stable group, and hopefully not to have to rely on subs as it can surely kill the game in no time.

We have not talked about Nat. Spain but now that you mention it, it could be fun if he wants to. Countries we have discussed are Romania and Turkey.

Thank you for the editing.

Tell me WW, you are a man with experience, could the french or the english declare war in 1937 against a germany with the belligerence of 1? After talking to FreddaH so it seems. I thought the UK started with interventionism of 4?

Turkey should best remain AI I think. Romania is fine.

I'm not sure whether allies can declare war on Germany with the belligerence of 1, even when fully interventionist. Maybe 2, maybe 10. Let's just have a gentleman's agreement that Allies will not dow Germany if its belligerence doesn't rise.

I don't recall exactly what UK's interventionism was like at the beginning of the game, but I do know that there has been heavy diplomatic activity between members of The Entente Cordiale after the remilitarization of the Ruhr. As explained by Freddah: "French dignitaries are being treated to lavish parties, strengthening the bond between the leaders of the two nations."

Ok thanks for the insight WW.

I suppose we will let him consider what he likes but I have no problem leaving Turkey as an AI since they are so important to all three alliances.

Hello there
it would indeed be nice to join ur game, since i havent played hoi2 for so long i dont mind playing a minor country of some kind, even though i would appreciate something like Turkey or Sweden. Spain and Rumania seems like hotspots and i would be able to change the balance of the game.

Hoping of going to war sooon

Ok, had a rather heated discussion with Fredda over the phone over WW's gentlemans agreement.

Fredrik claims it unjust since the "gamey" move from the Axis side to go on the nationalists side in the spanish civil war.

This raises questions:
* Since my belligerence is lower now than ever (started with 5) would that mean that the allies could declare war on Germany in late 1936 even if it has done nothing (it was probably 2 around then)?
*Is it gamey to do the "unhistorical" alliance with Franco since UK, France and SU (and maybe even the US) intervened in a conflict that they did not historically intervene in? If anything they sympathised with Franco (at least the UK and the US) and there are "rumours" that they helped him.
* What would a 1937 world-war lead to? A historical game? If anything I hope the engine would make the allies the agressors for starting it without Germany doing anything even remotly worthy of that.

I am just put off by the fact that UK and France are so likely to start a war when they in reality where avoiding it at all costs.

Ok game on tonite! Be on time everyone. 18:30 is final deadline. :)

Me and Fredda solved our outstanding issue. Conclusion, as long as Poland is in the alliance no war will be started. Hence if Poland leaves the alliance a war could be reality.

Tokern raised a healthy question, is war to be declared on the leader of the alliance or could you take the back-room-door by declaring on one of the members?

France has a non-agression pact with Italy until 1939, so nothing to fear there. On the other hand we could dow Japan anytime; could even have done so a long time ago. ;)

Sorry to hear it Outran!

Also sorry for Fredda whose computer seem to have given up.

Welcome to the new people: Traks, Tyrant and Crab.

Good game even though it was a tad short because of me :( The war is coming closer fast and I am sure everyone is thinking: My god, there is so little time and so many things to build/research/influence/trade/stockpile/upgrade.

Anyway, cant wait til next tuesday!!

2nd session summarized

Our 2nd session took us one year further, to may '38. As can be read above Outran (Nat. China) failed to show up, and Freddah (Uk) failed to launch the game. Between awaiting news from Outran, and allowing Freddah some time to fix his problem, which he never did  , we launched about one hour later than planned. Unfortunately, nobody aside from our group was in the lobby at that time, and Nat. China was left to AI, while Waihti looked after UK.
All things considered the session went very well, with only two rehosts.
At least the first rehost, which was due to a crash, enabled us to add some well established players to the game, i.e Crub (UK), Trask (Canada), and Tyrant (Nat. China). Too bad the sino-japanese war had already started for the later. Of course, this means that Waihti went back to playing Poland.
The second rehost occured after all players complained all at once about lag although game speed had not been changed. Maybe my ISP's fault...
As explained by Capitan,we were forced to call a halt much earlier than last week, but admitedly we got carried away the previous session, and it was already getting late for most of us.

I was most pleased to see that all the original players showed up, however successfully, or at least gave the others knowledge of their shortcomings.
I have now good faith in this group, and trust that the newest additions will proove as reliable. :)

Last of all, I would like to apologize to fellow Allies players in case they found me too directive. It is just so hard to set up a good game, and UK has already been played by 4 different players. Not to mention that I'm surrounded by 3 axis powers, and that lately the IJN has been seen on the coast of Indochina.

I would not miss for the world. Right now it is what keeps me surviving work. At least something fun to daydream about while doing otherwise drugding things.

Well, good that game did not go any much longer. I would go to sleep, leaving my country roll on. I already spent long evening playing game on Monday :) We'll see what future brings, but Canada is concerned about how things are going on in Europe.

Sorry 'bout the delay I once again managed to cause yesterday. I am even more sorry to say that it seems I will never be able to play the game on my computer again as the registry seems screwed. The game won't allow me to uninstall, and a repair does not work. Seems my short carrier as a HoI 2 player is at an end. Well well, probably should study anyway.

Have fun you guys, and if I ever (magically) get the computer working properly again, I'll give you a shout.
