Tokern, you chose whatever country you would like. I am not that familiar with fleets in HoI so I guess I'm screwed either way :D

As for the pauses, in my experience from single player there are a lot of micro management to perform, especially with the sliders and especially late in the war. To limit pausing to two times in the beginning has drawbacks if you are playing a power with lots of units, ie Germany, IMHO. However, since it will be equal for all in some measure I'm all for such a rule. Some rule or other must be in place for the game to not lapse into total anarchy, however nice and peachy that may be. ;)

As far as hosting goes, I am out I guess, since I sit on a totally crappy 0.5 line.

Are you up for it?

And how about the mods and the pause? Anyone can give us some insight?

Thanks for asking, but for me there is no point in playing '36. So I think I do not join right now. If you come to the same conclusion after one or two games I would be happy to join.

Regarding mods: I would advise you not to use any mod at all. It can lead to some additional problems in MP.

About pausing: Normally you have a few minutes pause at the beginning of the game. Then everyone is allowed to pause whenever he wants to. If someone abuses this and pauses without a good reason (a good reason would be that you give march and attack orders on the dawn of Babarossa) he should ask himself if he really has the necessary skills for MP.

Rather than pausing one should ask the host to slow down the game if there is a lot of action.

My 2 €-Cent.

Ok Isenbrand, that seems like a good deal, a kind of gentlemans agreement.

Udarmolota: You can join but the Soviet Union will be played by the AI. So you have to pick something else if you wanna play.

Winger: You are very welcome, take your pick!

Edited first post for clarity.

More opinions about mods? Only one saying to not use it and I would be cool with that but what I have noticed so far playing with the stony road mod is that some cool events are added.

Any more important houserules?

This is what I have compilated from this forum. Maybe we can use some of that?

--------------

From European MP game - DEG 3

Known bugs/exploits: If building province improvements (factories, infrastructure, land/sea forts etc) you may not use serial build, since all of these are sometimes completed simultaneously when rehosing. No use of 'ghost' units for capturing enemy provinces etc. No phoney wars (i.e. DOWing but not attacking). Annexation (or puppeting) must be done as soon as possible. Nations are required to keep a minimum of 10 days worth of supplies in stock. Axis are not allowed to DOW nations under attack from the USSR.

Alliances: China and any "Chinese minors" must remain unaligned (if they are still alive they may join the Allies once the USA is in the war). Allies may not invite the Benelux nations before they are attacked by the Axis. Italy and Japan may join the Axis whenever they choose to. Only historical alliances for the "Big 6" (USA can only join Allies, Italy and Japan can only join Axis, USSR can not join Allies or Axis etc).
Political actions: You may not influence or puppet a nation controlled by a human player. The UK may not DOW Japan (this leads to the USA being able to join, see below). Axis nations may not DOW USSR puppets or other Commintern countries, they must DOW the USSR itself.
Trade agreements: Allies and the USSR aren't allowed to break any starting trade agreements with Axis humans unless at war with this nation or through events (US oil embargo) or if the efficiency is lower than 100%.
Loading between sessions: Feel free to load up your own nation (and any puppets you control) and ponder your strategic situation between sessions. It is however not allowed to open up other player's nations. This is non-enforceable but we all belong to a gentleman's club and I expect every man to do his duty!

ABOUT SLOWING DOWN THE GAME (from Colonel Warden )

When the game is running the host can use the CTRL/- key combo to slow the speed of the game. That's hold the CTRL key down and press the keypad minus sign. You can also use CTRL/+ to speed it up again.

My preferred speed for MP play is Slow which seems to provide the best compromise between keeping the game moving and giving you enough time to think and use other screens like Diplomacy or Statistics. Others prefer a faster speed but you then often get lag and sync issues as the client PCs have more trouble keeping up with the host.

Sounds good got some questions though:

Alliances: China and any "Chinese minors" must remain unaligned (if they are still alive they may join the Allies once the USA is in the war).

Perhaps change this a bit so Chaina can align if Nat.China got less then 30 base IC and perhaps only after WW2 starts? seens this is '36 game it will otherwhise be up to 6 years of war untill Chaina can align agenst Japan.

would like Traks opinion on this matter.

Italy and Japan may join the Axis whenever they choose to.

Does this include multipel joins for Japan? if not there can be some trubels.

a expempel: If Japan join Axis in '36 to trade BPs and goes to war agenst China, Germany will be draged in to a war they can't fight. This leads to the expation events for Germany like the overtaking of Austria and the demand of Sudetenland and most importantly the Danzig or war event dosen't fire. it also leads to that Germany get a wartime economy in peacetime witch will free up to 20 IC for Germany.

This might overpower the Axis and Japan, so want know what the rest of you think

P.S the US and SU can't and must rules can be skipped seens they are a AI palyers ;)

Yes it was really nice once we got going and it seems like we have a nice little group.

Big events in the eye of the reichskansler

* Rhineland was occupied after French complaints about the wardemonstrations in Köln. Even though the french PM asked for the demonstrations to stop he later denied that and used this as an excuse to gear up the war-economy.

* An alliance was signed with Japan who without consulting the fuhrer let their puppet Manchuko come into the alliance. This caused the german foreignminister Seurcrautz (wrongly spelled since i do not remember his name) to write a letter of complaint to his japanese counterpart. Due to some translationproblems the japanese thought this to be a declaration of war and chaos ensued. Manchuko sided with germany in the conflict and since news of the conflict did not reach Berlin until Harbin was conquered Germany decided to accept the white peace. Tojo has now hired a new translator after understanding the whole things as a missunderstanding. (Warum does not mean war  )

* A pact of mutual aid was signed with Italy and its puppet Somalia. Mutual aid is however somehow missgiving since the aid is just one-sided so far.

* The spanish civil war started with early nationalist victories everywhere except the basque country and andalucia. The fight stiffened in late 1936 and Hitler decided to offer Franco his help. Franco refused and negotiations began. In early 1937 (february) Franco finally took the german-italian offer and joined the brotherhood of steel. As we speak german tanks (2 divisions) are rushing down towards Jaen with 6 german infantry divisions covering its rear. There is also a rumour of italian troops in Barcelona but since the german troops have yet to see any of them this will go as an uncomfirmed rumour.

* Hungary and Germany have had several talks about the future of the two people but so far the hungarian demands have been to greedy for the fuhrer to consider them. More will follow.

* On the techside germany is developing a well-working economy with great industrial innovations (advanced machine tools and advanced construction). This has lead to breakthroughs in tank and aircraft-design. The naval-minister is however complaining for the lack of resources put into improving the navy. The fuhrer has now promised a new submodel after getting some blueprints from the japanese naval-industry.

-------------------------

* I think we should consider lowering my belligerence a bit since the war with japan was only to try to get away with the alliance with japan. It got all messed up becaused of Manchuko and this was the only way to solve it (with japan annexing the country). I am not saying lower it to zero since we might have gotten some fringe-benifits from it but 28 belligerence is far too much in 36. Maybe lower it with 15? What do you all think? I think the game would be fast lost for the axis if the US enters the war in 39 or something.

* Lets also discuss when we are letting the US and SU to be playable. I suppose that the french and the polish player will want to play one of those once their empires have faded (i hope they will anyway, otherwise it will be me begging to play another power). I think from 39 on they should be playable with the french taking over the SU and the polish taking over the US. How do you guys feel about it?

Nationalist China in the game

It seems to me that Nat. China has been forgotten even in international forums. For all u who is interested in the history of that country let me say that:

Nat. China occupied Comunist China in the early of 1937 (I think) and that some technological advances have been done in the military field, while the industrial one has been a bit forgotten by authorities. Trying to fit that problem, big efforces have been placed on the industrial research.

On the other hand, Nat. China has been forgotten in international alliances and is isolated in the international community. So it may be wrong to write Nat. China as an alli, by the moment it is alone, pretty alone.

I enjoyed, see u next time!

Some news from the italian front:

The Italian army was slow to take the new part of its african empire.
Some say that the all the leaders was deeply involved in some trading
business.

Count Ciano has been traveling around the world, trying to improve
the somewhat low opinion of the Glorius Italian empire. Installing a puppet
king in the war torn Somalia and helping their spanish facist brothers in their
war of independens.

The research is going slowly but the industry have high hopes now that they
joined the Germans in mutual pact of sience for the future.

The Italian fleet and 5 divisions of the mighty italian army is slowly gaining
some areas for Franco in the spanish civilwar.
