Question about Personal Unions: is the chance that it'll proc purely statistical/random if you have a Royal Marriage? If you do get lined up for a Personal Union, do you always lose it if an heir is produced by chance? Therefore if you have an ally who you want to PU you should Claim Throne and DoW them just to make sure the PU comes through? :)

What exactly does "30% better relations" mean in the context of an advisor?

Also what does "10% better combat ability" actually mean, i.e. which stats is it affecting?

I think the first means that bad relations dcay 30% more quickly. And the second (I hope) means that the pips get a 10% boost across the board.

Anyone know what causes the Bad Ruler and Incompetent Ruler relations malus for your personal union members?

Any Idea how border friction is calculated (I have one piece of territory touching both Inca and Cherokee right now, and have a -150 and -200 relations penalty for border friction)?

Are overseas gold mines really as worthless as they appear? Or am I missing something?

Play as Lithuania.
Crimerea decides from time to time to show supperiory. I can beat Crimeria army 1 on 1 easily, but once ottomons shows up with 40 stack I can't fight back.
Should I gank on Crimeria early on and get rid of them or there is a way to stop Crimerea from showing supperiority in first place?

Two questions:
1. How can I make sure that my allies will respond to my call to war whenever I declare war on another country?
2. How can I increase my capacity to hire military leaders?

Border friction is currently calculated badly. 1.2 is apparently going to fix it (at least somewhat).

I recently switched to cosmopolitaine culture in my England game and formed France. Is it WAD that I kept the English Ideas? Is there a way to actually get rid of the English Ideas and go French instead?

1. Hover over the "Call willing allies" box. It will show you if your allies are going to join you.
2. Ideas.

My questions:
Can anyone tell me how I would manage to switch from russia as a merchant republic (formed as Novogorod) to russia as an administrative republic? Do I need to get my rep. tradition low, then become a despotic monarchy, and then convert back somehow (how?)

Also, is there a specific reason merchant republics aren't allowed to change?

1) Low stats appear to be the trigger in my experience; I think one is for a 0 stat and the other is for a 1 as the only time I saw both was with a brilliant 0/3/1 bozo on the throne.
2) it is related to the border friction and similar events along with the size of the border but is being adjusted soon (tm)
3) can't say as I really don't pay that much attention to where the money is coming from

Defensive calls happen first and are mostly accepted so if you have an ally that is potentially going to join the opposite side in a war the general rule of thumb is if it matters then they'll join against you. You can get around this by being involved in a different war with your ally as long as one or the other of you is the leader for your side. So start that war with a native nation somewhere and call France in first then attack your neighboring catholic minor.

The AI answers Defensive CTA's first. Their being Defender of the Faith being a Defensive CTA, they will ALWAYS answer that one first.
