Sorry to ask a question which was certainly answered before, but I just can't find a fitting answer.
The game runs perfectly well, but I can't enter iron-mode nor can I activate the cloud-feature, which seems to be essential for that iron-mode-achievement-stuff.
I bought the Steam pre-order version and activated it with the launcher menu on the forums. There must be something I'm simply overlooking?
Thanks in advance!

Do you have Steam opened and start the game via the steam application?

I also have a short question. Is there a possibility to check what provinces a nation currently owns? In the Ledger I can only check how many they own, but not which ones.
Someone may have a better answer (I do not know if there is a list) but visually: switch to Diplomacy mapmode and click on the nation in question. All of their provinces you have revealed will highlight green.
Thank you, that at least makes it more obvious so see what belongs to what! Nonetheless yes, I was interested if there a list of some sort that displays this information without changing map modes? Would be very helpful if this is the case.

I don't know about Victoria Revolutions (never played it). But I'd say EU4 is easier to learn than Victoria 2. Compared to CK2, I found it about the same difficulty-wise, but quite different gameplay-wise. As long as you can approach it knowing it shares very little with CK2, you'll probably be alright. Also, it can help to start with an "easy" country. Denmark, France, or Portugal are good choices.

How do you increase the strength/number of units in a regiment?

The number will never change. You always have a max of 1000 dudes in a regiment. If they get killed, they do need to be reinforced and they will do this automatically if you're funding your military and have the manpower. "Strength" increases with technology and also with ideas, though there's not one "strength" -- there's shock, fire, morale, and discipline. All of these improve the performance of your soldiers, and each upgraded soldier type you get as you reach new tech levels will also increase shock, fire, and morale. Prestige also increases your troop morale and military funding % changes maximum morale.

How do I unite Japan as a Daimyo?

I currently control all of Japan directly as Hosokawa. The Emperor and the nation of Japan are no more. I have every province cored. I'm not getting any option to unite Japan. In a previous game, I got the option after rebelling against the Emperor and taking the throne directly, but I didn't get the achievement (presumably because I was now the Emperor, rather than a Daimyo).

Basically, how the heck do I do this achievement?

I apologize for bumping my question, but I have no responses so far, and I'd rather not create a thread on it.

Is it possible to grant yourself an electorate in the HRE? I'm playing as protestant Mecklenburg and just became the Emperor. I revoked two catholic electorates and granted one to a protestant ally. Can I grant the other one to myself?

For the last HRE reform Renovattio Imperri do you need everyone's support for them to be in the nation, I have the support of all but one, will they still be part of the new nation?

Bumping question

Is it possible to grant yourself an electorate in the HRE? I'm playing as protestant Mecklenburg and just became the Emperor. I revoked two catholic electorates and granted one to a protestant ally. Can I grant the other one to myself?

I beileve not. You can't diplomatically interact with yourself, hence can't select the grant electorate option.

What are the possible reasons for inability to demand releasing nations in peace deal? I (emperor) declared war on Provence (non-member of HRE and war leader) which called Trier (HRE member) to war. Trier is fully occupied but the button for releasing nations is disabled. Provence is partially occupied and I can demand releasing nations from her but not from Trier (which is big and "can" release a lots of nations). Before war I have passed imperial reform which banned internal HRE wars, could this be the reason?
