Couple of questions:

1. In 1.8 how do you start a war for your vassals claims? For example as the Ottomans I have a vassal (Andal I think) next to Ethiopia, and they have claims on several provinces, but when I go to the CB screen, it says I have no CB against Ethiopia?

Also when my vassal and I both have a claim on another countries province, in the peace how do I give it to my vassal rather than take it myself? Is it via the switch province owner mechanic before peacing out?

2. What is the state of vassal feeding in 1.8, is it somethings that should be done? Is it too expensive? Does it require a bit more longterm investment via specific idea groups? Because I am finding it painfully slow, especially with the -2 diplomatic rep immediately after annexing a vassal. So any hints or tips about size and methods would be appreciated. I didn't want to waste a new thread on the topic lol.

EDIT

Another quick question ... if you cannot PU as Muslim rulers now, what exactly is the point of dynastic marriages with those nations, barring the relations bonus?

For the 'Poland can into space' achievement, can I take ideas, or will they prevent me completing the achievement?
I'm fairly confident that for that achievement, you need to take Administrative, Innovative, Diplomatic, Aristocratic, another DIP idea group, and another MIL idea group, because you need to stack every conceviable source of tech cost reduction to get the cost of Tech 32 (target year 1835, fifteen years past the last day on which you can buy technology, giving +150% = +900 MP to all tech costs) below the size of your monarch power pools.

Another quick question ... if you cannot PU as Muslim rulers now, what exactly is the point of dynastic marriages with those nations, barring the relations bonus?
Getting good enough relations to diplomatically vassalize someone without a royal marriage is a tricky and unreliable business.

1) Do you have AoW? As using vassal CB's is a feature of the DLC, not of the free patch. They definitely should be available in the DoW screen if you do have AoW.
Yes, the only way to get claims directly to your vassals is for you to transfer control to them before peacing out. They only control cores they sieged themselves normally. Of course you could just use the old way of conquering things yourself and selling them to the vassal afterwards.

2) Whether or not it should be done is up to you, but in general yes. What else are you going to spend all your diplo points on? The patch made it cheaper, and indeed slower, but the speed is actually an argument for vassal feeding. Because I can't just quickly cycle through a bunch of small vassals anymore, I prefer to keep one huge vassal in each area for a fairly long time. Waiting a couple dozen years for your vassal that you sold all of France really isn't that problematic.

For the 'Poland can into space' achievement, can I take ideas, or will they prevent me completing the achievement?
You can take any ideas at all. Even as an eastern nation with average monarchs you'll have plenty of monarch points to conquer Europe, get all the tech and fill all but the last ideagroup (just because it comes too late).

The target year is used to determine when the next tech is ahead of time, not to determine when that tech is ahead of time, so the 1835 just means that the non-existent tech 33 is 15 years ahead of time when the game ends. 32 has no ahead of time penalty in 1820.

Getting good enough relations to diplomatically vassalize someone without a royal marriage is a tricky and unreliable business.
Until vassalizing AI between religious groups is actually possible, like it was supposed to be, that isn't particularly relevant though :p

I wanted to compare the 2 Unittypes @Tech12, coz i dont know which i should use, because of the following.

The Tercio has more in def.shock, but less in off.shock and the shooter has the other way round.
So what i "understood" ( or not ) is:

A = Tercio Infantry
B = Free Shooter Infantry

Fire Phase = equal:
///

Shock Phase dmg is ( both at the same time ):
A 1dmg offshock + 2dmg defshock to B = 3
B 2dmg offshock + 1dmg defshockto A = 3

The Moral dmg is ( both at the same time ):
A 2dmg offmoral + 2dmg defmoral to B = 4
B 3dmg offmoral + 1dmg defmoral to A = 4

http://www.eu4wiki.com/Land_units#Unit_group.28s.29_with_greatest_infantry_pip_sum_at_any_tech_level

If Def stands for "block" then its the same 3-2=1 and 2-1=1
So overall they tied, if they attack at the same time each phase. off vs def

Because of this, i don't understand why there are 2 unit types, because for me they are equal or i missunderstood something. The one has higher off but less def,
and the other has less off but higher def.

Just wanted to know what Unit is better in compare, but for me both making the same dmg to each other each phase. The defense pip is a thing, but if one is making 2 off dmg, and the other 1 def dmg, and at the
same time 1 off dmg, and the other 2 def dmg, its the same for me. like my example on top of the post. 2 vs 1 and 1 vs 2, so there is a tie if you compare the Tercio and the Shooter unit.

If you go with yellow pips, you'll do more damage, but receive more damage in return. So if you don't care about manpower, and want to try to kill more of the enemy troops, go with the offensive one. On the other hand, if you want your fighters to last longer so you can reinforce with other stacks for example (aka bait the enemy into attacking you), go with the defensive ones, you'll take less casualities, but inflict less damage too.

And yes, you can kind of count the green pips as block.

Also the Artillery right behind the troop helps it with half of it's defensive pips. So always try to have enough artillery in the back row to cover your front troops.

Only if you call Austria as a full ally of cologne, or if austria gets called in as the emperor defending the HRE territory against outsiders (austria seems to join as a full ally when it's the later case)

It does. Hm, it would be such perfect conditions for vasallizing Cologne, Trier and the Pfalzgrafschaft in one war. But so... Damn you coalition!!
(Well, that happens if you conquer your way through France ^^)

I'm fairly confident that for that achievement, you need to take Administrative, Innovative, Diplomatic, Aristocratic, another DIP idea group, and another MIL idea group, because you need to stack every conceviable source of tech cost reduction to get the cost of Tech 32 (target year 1835, fifteen years past the last day on which you can buy technology, giving +150% = +900 MP to all tech costs) below the size of your monarch power pools.

Definitely not:

32 isn't ahead of years in 1820. I didn't even re-elect in this game, and certainly didn't stack -tech modifiers.

Poland can get this without westernizing easily, if it can get +3 advisors and simply hold off on expansion briefly in the late game. However, westernization + imperial integrity will make it even easier to manage, if you don't care about expansion as much.

So I'm playing with the Charruas and just at the start of the game I get a mission to "Migrate to Santa Fe", I'm interested in fulfilling this mission but I can't seem to find anywhere on the interface where to do this. All the threads and videos I've found on the web thus far refer to tabs and buttons that I do not have on my UI.
So how do I go about migrating to Santa Fe?

No.
Code:
...
		is_year = 1450
		NOT = { is_year = 1500 }
...

If you can't find any of those tabs and buttons, I can see no other explanation then that you don't have the Conquest of Paradise DLC enabled. Native mechanics are a part of that, though I would have thought/hoped that not having it enabled would also stop those missions from appearing.

They're not stupid enough to declare war when facing such an overwhelming opposition.

Hopefully this is a quick question: Has Westernization changed in AoW/1.8? I'm playing as Mali, and I sold a province to Portugal. All adjacent province are cores, though one of them is non-accepted religion and culture. I've reformed the government, I'm 13 technology levels behind them (4/4/5 vs 9/8/9), my Stability is +3, and I'm not suffering any overextension, but the button is still grayed out. What else am I missing? I also can't seem to find the update notes (I'm using Steam). Thanks in advance!

Did they add the province to a trade company? You can not westernize off of trade company provinces.

Though if that's the case, you can conquer the province back from them and then you will be able to westernize since you'll have a western core inside your country.

Hi,

just bought Wealth of Nations from Steam and I don't know how to move Important Center of Trade.

I swear I don't have any "change trade capital" icon next to move capital icon (the crown) when I click to any province...
