If I notice that there is a historical inaccuracy at the start of the game, where can I point it out to the devs and most likely get a reply?

Best place is in the bugs forum but you should support your observation with evidence (such as links to Wikipedia articles) rather than just assert your position.

That said, mentioning it in this thread (or even a separate thread in the main forum) will allow other players to comment. It may be something that has been reported before and in the game for gameplay reasons, for example.

Thanks a lot!
The relations between The Mamlukes and The Ottomans should be redone. They were friendly towards each other and even assisted each.
When the Portuguese discovered Ras El Raga El Saleh at the beginning of the 16th century the world trade movement changed making Egypt and Alexandria not considered the heart of it anymore.
Caminho_maritimo_para_a_India.png

It was a huge hit to the Mamlukid income obviously and changed world trade, but there is no mention of it in the game at all.
It also lead to the Mamluk Portuguese Naval War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Diu_(1509)) where the Ottomans refused to help. This the the main reason of why the relations worsened, prior to that they had friendly relations, they are not historical rivals at all.
The entire Mamluke fleet was destroyed. I think Venice and another merchant country also decided to assist the Mamlukes as the Portuguese discovery also affected them, but I don't remember exactly.
The Mamlukes and Ottomans should start friendly (historically) in 1444 and the relations first began to worsen when the Ottomans refused to help the Mamlukes against Portugal (sadly there is no mention of the important Portuguese discovery in-game in any playthrough.
I apologize for any grammatical errors as English isn't my native language.
I suggest the inclusion of a Portuguese discovery event for The Mamlukes and Portuguese which depends on Portuguese trade progress through the game. I also suggest the Ottomans getting an option to assist the Mameluks as before their refusal to help they had a friendly relationship and if it werent for that it would be a lot different.
Also I'm a bit saddened that there is no event about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_Ali_of_Egypt he was so influental he is widely considered the founder of modern day Egypt.

England has 40/42, Austria 23/46, France 37/45, Castille 36/38, and Hungary (PU'd under Austria has at least 30 thousand) and Burgundy has 47/(48 or 45) but I've got only the first idea in the Offensive group, France is 1 level behind in Mil tech (8 and 7 respectively), and Burgundy has 2 ideas in the defensive group and 1 of it's national ideas (which I believe gives 15% morale). Besides that, I can't seem to be able to force a major battle, Burgundy keeps attacking some stacks from me and my allies, but when we try to reinforce the battle Burgundy has already won and we get the malus as the attacker. And we always seem to roll some devastatingly bad rolls, when Burgundy gets a 9 we take a 3 or when we get lucky and roll a nine Burgundy has a 7 e 2 or 3 bonus from the generals, its annoying. And as far as I've seen Burgundy doesn't have good terrain for defensive battles, any ideas?

It seems more that Burgundy is better in tactics then you.
What you have to try is keep three stacks next to each other and wait for him to attack and then get in with other troops. That works mostly for me to bait them in.

Is there a specific reason for Ethiopia's flag to be using the "modern" colours? it looks almost like Haille Selassie's Ethiopian flag, or is it just because of a lack of sources/proper flags for Ethiopia? (or am I misinformed/an idiot who missed something obvious?)

Hi,

any ideas for the releasedate of the new DLC? I am on vacation next week and I really don't want to miss out on special offers for other EUIV-DLC on Steam.

Thx in advance.

I want to declare war on Great Britain to get the last of their provinces, but they've gone and allied themselves with my biggest ally, the HRE (who I don't want to fight, naturally). If I check the "Declare War" screen for Great Britain, I can see that HRE is listed as refusing to join my side, since they're allied with the opponent. However, if I declare on one of GB's colonies, the HRE is listed as willing to join. Thing is, it doesn't work out that way. When I declare on a GB colony, the HRE joins their side, even though I sent a call to arms that they were positive to.

What gives? Shouldn't this kind of be the same scenario as me declaring war on a ally to GB?

Should be? Probably, particularly in cases with auto-joins such as DoWs on CNs, vassals, etc.. However, the system is set up to not consider alliances as many aren't a "sure thing" to join; thus the tool only considers a war bewtween you and the target nation. In some ways it makes sense to do it that way-if you know the enemy's ally x isn't going to join the enemy side (because your ally y that is also allied to x will still join your war) that can be valuable information to have.

The following Q & A might help you

offensive war, why enemy side changes war leader, my allies won't answer CTA.

Q:I want to DoW Castille Cherokee, but I have a truce with Castille. No problem as I can declare on their protectorate Cherokee. However France will not join my war against Cherokee due to distant war penalty. However Castille will take over from their protectorate and then France would be close enough to join the war, but they also have a truce with Vastille. Will France join my offensive war?

A: The truce state is determined by who they would be declaring war on (the war leader at the time they are deciding to join/not join). So initially it is the war target but as soon as the defending war leader changes, so does the truce factor. France won't join your war.

This is one common cause of nations saying they will join a war then not doing so-an immediate war leader change to a nation they have good relations or a truce with...

Trying to figure out what I am doing wrong here. Playing Poland->PLC->Prussia and thought I could maybe turn into Russia as well. Seems like it would have enough base tax to manage it but I don't see the option. I figure maybe something has changed down the road through all the version changes. Is it still possible or am I wasting my time?

Help, I thought colonial nations don't happen when your capital is in the new world.
I'm USA with capital in Manhattan.
After beating up England and annexing his colonial nation New Mexico and coring the lands a new colonial nation formed for me.

Why did this happen and how can I avoid it from happening in the future?
Someone explain please.

North- and South-America are different continents. Having a capital in North-America does stop you from getting colonial nations in North-America, but not in South-America, unless that territory has a contiguous land-connection to your capital. So to avoid it, you need that connection to the capital, which could be achieved by taking a bunch of land (mostly from France by the looks of it) in between your current capital and your meso-american holdings or moving your capital closer to them (but still officially in NA) and taking less land.

Culture shift has nothing to do with base tax. It's simple province count; do Russian-culture provinces outnumber any other culture?
(Accepted cultures are what depends on base tax.)

Ah, that is interesting but, in that case, something else is going on. Russian easily outnumbers any other culture. Russian is at 43. Polish and Prussian are at 11 each. Just to test, I released a pile of not Russian provinces (like Ukraine, TO, LO, etc) and it still didn't pop.

Prussia is on a list of countries that can't culture-shift. The list also includes Ming, Japan, Manchu, Mongolia, the Papal State and cultural unions (except that cultural unions can shift into the group they are the union of). I think you're stuck for the rest of the game as a Germanic country, unless you can figure out some special trick (there was the bankruptcy trick, but I suspect this has been fixed after the whole Minghals business).
