I'm a long time CK2 player and have a problem fighting another armies or sieging in this game, it seems that big stacks like 30k against 15k or 20k doesnt grant an ''automatic win" even if i use a general.
Same thing happens in an assault phase, i can siege with an army and assault a castle, like 20k against 1k and most of the times i lose.

any help or advice?

A good place to understand the mechanics http://www.eu4wiki.com/Land_warfare

Siege assault should never been done unless the wall's been breached and your infantry (cavalry and artillery doesn't join in assaults) outnumbered the defender at least 10 to 1

Should i westernize as Steppe Horde (Golden Horde)? Iam not really sure about the benefits.
I thought about the advantages and disadvantages.

Pro:
- I can use trade companys to boost trade and get bonus merchants
-no tech cost penality anymore
-western vision...any other advantages?

Contra:
- I lose the ability to get new vassals in the lower tech groups and so cant core-feeding them, because they will be protecorates for me when i westernize.
- You dont get western units anymore, but you can build western units in western lands cores..
- lots of spend adm-points, years of trouble.
- bonus merchants not really worth it, cause trade stream flows to europe nodes

any other things that are pro or contra i forgot?

Another question, why i build western units in western lands cores..will they update automatic when i advance in mil-tech?

First of all you need to decide whether to reform. Reforming takes away your Horde abilities, but also kills off the bad events (House of Peace etc) and gives you Muslim tech and units (in most cases).

Once you've done that, you're pretty much a standard Muslim country, so the usual reasoning about Westernisation for Muslim tech applies.

You'll need to integrate France eventually. So you need to go for both Influence (-25% cost) and Administrative for the -15% policy. As you'll need these anyway for cheaper integration and coring. I'd say start with them.

I'd suggest Influence myself, you get an extra dip slot, you also get more FL from France making it a lot easier to have a big enough army to keep France under control. And lets be honest with France as your PU you don't exactly need military or naval ideas.
While I agree with your suggestion, I do have to point out that PU's don't give any force limits.

Can someone explain the difference between Fire and Shock? Why does Fire become more important later on? Is there some mechanic where units use more guns and less swords as time passes?
There's weapon modifiers that go up with military tech advancement. Each unit type has their own shock and fire modifier, you can find those in the military tab. Fire starts out low for all units, but increases more quickly then shock does.

What's also important though is the fact that infantry is fairly balanced between shock and fire, cavalry is heavy shock, and artillery is heavy fire. You generally can't use a lot of cavalry, while you want to have your entire backline filled with artillery, so fire adds to the damage of way more units from the midgame on.

Is there any way to get allied troops (PU/vassals/normal allies) onto transports. They won't move along with one of my attachable forces to the transports, but are fine about tagging along on land.

Can vassals or lesser partners in a PU form new countries? I have vassalized Denmark and Norway and have a PU with Sweden. If I annexed two of them and gave the necessary provinces to the third one, could Scandinavia be formed then?

EDIT: Ah, completely forgot that there's always a "is_subject" condition in those decisions, so I guess it's not possible.

How do I change my ally's attitude (toward me) from defensive/neutral to friendly?

I want them to join my war.

Improve their view of you, i.e., boost your relations.

Vassalize vs annex?

Are there any benefits from annexing instead of vassalizing playing as Brandenburg?
If they are in the HRE it would be better to vassalize then integrate them later at the start of your campaign. A straight annex will probably get the emperor demanding you return the territory, once you're big enough to swat him like a fly then straight annex is just as good.

In general, it comes down to which monarch point you have more of to spare, admin or diplo.

If they are in the HRE it would be better to vassalize then integrate them later at the start of your campaign. A straight annex will probably get the emperor demanding you return the territory, once you're big enough to swat him like a fly then straight annex is just as good.

Thanks. I've just started playing Brandenburg for the first time and not sure if I should annex or vassalize in order to get powerful as fast as possible.
