So I took Mecca and Al Jawf from the Hafzids and I didn't have Admin points to core both, coring Al Jawf and waiting for my Admin points to come back up before coring the other one. I later forgot about coring Mecca, and started converting it to Orthodox which took a few years, and during that time, my claim on it expired. Once it had converted, I tried coring it, but now the Core button is greyed out. Is that because my claim expired? Is it because I'm at war with the Hafzids again, and can only core during peacetime. Will I need to sell Mecca back to the Hafzids, fabricate a claim and reconquer it?

On a different topic, does it make sense to build trade improvements outside of the Trade zone of my capital? Would I just be benefitting some other country with the trade I'm sending their way?

You can't be fighting a nation with a core in the province if you want to core it. It will also freeze coring progress during such wars until you end them, then resume.

Hello guys,

if one of my allies declares war on another nation and asks me to join him, what will happen if the opposing nation is allied to one of my allies?
For example, I was playing as Castile and allied with France and Portugal. France would declare war on England and ask me to join them, but England is allied with Portugal, my other ally. So far I've always declined and accepted the relation penalties for doing so, but I wonder what would have happened if I joined (concerning my alliance with Portugal of course).

It's because you're at war with the Hafzids. You can't start coring a province that has a core from a country you're at war with, and if you already started coring it, it will pause until that war is over. You could sell it back (if you're not rivals) and claim it again, to get the cost reduction, but it's probably not worthwhile.

Building trade buildings in a place past where you're collecting would be quite useless yes. You'd still get extra production out of it, but that's about it. Anything that leads (even partially) towards your capital is usually worthwhile though, since you get more trade value in the node, send a bigger portion of it forward and still earning extra production.

If Portugal joins on the other side, your alliance with them would be broken. No one would get any relations penalty for that, so it should be relatively easy to get it back after the war ends.

I see thanks, I wouldn't want to risk that though, but it's good to know (at least not with Portugal, but allies who aren't next-door wouldn't be much of a problem :) ).

Thanks.

I've also got some primitive nations that are protectorates of mine. Would it be worth it to sell a province of mine next to them to a Westernized nation, so that they could westernize and become proper vassals? The nations I'm thinking of are Benin, Ashanti, Hausa, Kanem Bornu and Kilwa. None of them are particularly big, but I can't really do much with them currently.

I guess you could do that, but there's really no guarantee that they will westernize even when they can. If they do, they'd break free, they wouldn't become your vassal. I would personally just cancel the protectorates and conquer them instead.

Manchu question: How do you create the "Green Standard Army" if having the "Green Standard Army" is a prerequisite?

Edit: Nevermind, I didn't realise it's also the name of one of the NIs.

I colonized 4 provinces in the guyana region... After some time I captured the 5th but the game did not offer to make the 5 provinces into a colonial/vassal nation like brasil and etc.... Keep in mind I cored the province....Does Castille need to renounce core on it ?
No, but sometimes the game forgets to check for it. I think it always checks when you finish a colony, but it doesn't always check when you finish a core. A reload should fix that however.

I'd like to play netherlands, but i dont like having to restart 20x trying to beat spain's huge army/fleet. how would i go about this?
Starting at a time where they're not at war would be a decent idea. I'd say the better idea is forming it yourself from the 1444 start, ideally as a dutch minor (Friesland is easily the best! No nationalism intended).

What happens if I declare war on a nation who I share an ally with?

99.9% of the time the ally will join the defending side. To prevent this, DoW another nation and call the ally into the war. This will prevent the ally from backstabbing you (as you cannot declare war on a nation you are fighting in a war alongside).

Just quick sanity check, noticed that distant overseas provinces have now (1.7) full coring cost, arent they supposed to be only 10% of it?

Is the AE for claim fabrication scaled like the BB for war justification in V2? A coalition formed after I got discovered in the first month of the game.

It's not scaled. It's 7.5 base ae and it's modified by ae impact and covert impact only (I think). You can hover your mouse over base value to see how much it is with different countries.

As Poland (and Commonwealth), all my elected kings start with very low legitimacy. Is this normal?

Yes, it is. People have been bashing this "feature" quite a bit. Browse first site, they are threads about it.

Just quick sanity check, noticed that distant overseas provinces have now (1.7) full coring cost, arent they supposed to be only 10% of it?

No, they are full cost.
