Hi All.

I have a successful Italy game which I'm loving at the moment in 1.6. I also have a Castile/England learning game with a mate that we do via LAN, this is in 1.5.

So at the moment I have EU4 in steam on 1.6. I know I can using the beta thing got to 1.5.1, my question is will swapping and changing from 1.5.1 to 1.6 and back again over and over again break any of my saves? My Italy game (1.6) is in Ironman.

If you're constantly switching back and forth, playing the 1.5.1 game in 1.5.1 and the 1.6 game in 1.6(.1), there is absolutely no reason it could ever break anything. But as far as I know there are no real compatibility issues between 1.5.1 and 1.6(.1), so you could also just play both of them on 1.6(.1) from now on.

When the Ottomans take Constantinople and make it their capital it becomes turkish sunni.

Is there a corresponding event/decision for greeks/byzantines?

You mean If they take it back after? But Byzantium starts with it as capital. So they must have been wiped out first.
It is a very unlikely chain of event's that Byzantium get's released without Constantinople and conquers it later. So I wager that there is no such event.

I was contemplating a re-establishing the byzantine empire campaign (maybe including a culture switch).

God-like basetax off culture Constantinople doesn't sound fun though.

Constantinople is isolated at the start, so the Ottomans can (and the AI occasionally does) conquer it while leaving the rest of Byzantium intact. Aside from that, if they do revolt back into existence, it's actually highly unlikely that they'd take Constantinople with them, as that's now Turkish, so unaffected by cultural rebels.

But you're right, there is no such decision. There is a decision that adds another ton of base tax and manpower to Constantinople once Byz has conquered all of their old land, but that does not chance its culture/religion.

I was contemplating a re-establishing the byzantine empire campaign (maybe including a culture switch).

You should get Turkish as an accepted culture if you just plan to get the previous ERE lands. If you plan to also overtake the HRE/Europe in general (you are the one true roman emperor after all), then that doesn't help as much obviously ;)

Bummer.

I just wanted to explore the purple phoenix stuff from rock bottom on up.
Not gonna happen like that.
You can still do it. I've done it as both VEN and TRE, albeit in earlier patches. But I don't think any of the rules that are relevant for Constantinople have changed. You can get the two increase in its tax base, but yes, it'll then be wrong culture/religion. You might be able to change religion via rebels, but you'll need luck and vassals busy elsewhere. You'll never be able to cost/justify the culture switch, but can probably do it if you're swimming in diplo points and really want to. It's not necessary, though, the increases outweigh the penalties, especially once Turkish is accepted. I like to think of it as the cosmopolitan capital of the, once again, multi-ethnic Roman Empire.

I have merchant in Ceylon but I can't send my merchant fleet to increase my trade power in Ceylon. I was able to send when I built Suez Canal but now I can't send my fleet, Ceylon is not in the list. Why?

I just shudder at the thought of the rebels that will spawn there. Oh well.
And relying on orthodox zealot rebels just seems.....unreliable at best.

Hi!

My question is if it is possible to get to 100% warscore without a full occupation. I'm currently fighting super-France (swallowed Castile, Aragon and Scotland via PUs) and I really want to hurt them, but without 100% warscore I can't make them release anything major. I'm currently sitting on 72% warscore, mostly through holding the war goal and battles. Will it ever get to 100% when I just start sieging their land or only if I get every last province?

On a side not, I could for some reason release Castile for 2% warscore and 180 diplo points, but I only (if at all) seems to release a single overseas province instead of all the cores in the Iberian. Is there a way to fix that?

If you are not playing as BYZ, release them or someone else that's orthodox as a vassal and feed them all of BYZ old land. If BYZ is gone, if you're Orthodox (you will need to be to form BYZ) you can always release someone like Najd to convert Constantinople. I've seen it as high as 18 tax, but Najd with its base of 10% missionary strength (just from NIs and religious) will have Turkish accepted just from that 1 province and even at 18 tax Sunni you're only talking 11% resistance...something that they'll tear through easily after a few decisions available to all Christian faiths and +.5% from stability.

My question is if it is possible to get to 100% warscore without a full occupation. If you milk a war enough, mid-upper 70s% war score can allow at-or-near 100% demands. I'm talking WE and length of war stacking though, and maybe some rebels too.

Unfortunately it is only possible to get to 100% if you fully siege the warleader. However, they will accept a peace offer worth 100% warscore well before that, as their enthousiasm will be low for sure.

The Castile example sounds like a bug. Were their provinces in Iberia occupied by someone else/rebels? I haven't really thought too much about it, but it does sound familiar that it charges diplopoints for provinces it can't release due to being occupied by a third party.

Thanks for the answers, I'll just start carpet-sieging them then.

No rebels anywhere and it was like that since the start of the war. When it is still that way in the next war, I'll submit a bug report.

Sometimes the system glitches if the fleet you want to send is located well away from the desired area so moving it closer will allow the order. It is also possible that you don't have a base within range of the node (your earlier success may have been due to allied bases while at war).

How work the new ''creating a colonial nation'' thing when you are conquering over natives ? (even with 8-10 provinces, Mexico does not seems to ''trigger'' for me, for instance)

Are they cored provinces, BaronNoir? I believe they need to be cored for the CN to trigger.

Still wondering how the re-worked tolerance works, and if I should take the Treaty of Nantes decision.
