After getting 100% give them all occupations, they will make separate peace and after then you can hurt Ottomans even more.
This has been patched out in the beta, because it was considered an exploit. Once you 100% someone they'll unconditionally surrender and accept peace only from the war leader.

To answer the question too, you could vassalize Byzantium while they are small-ish, feed them back to health so they can stand up for themselves, put your dynasty on their throne through the vassal interaction and then release them. This way the PU RNG will be stacked in your favour at least a bit, because you won't have to get their dynasty or wait for yours to spread to them.

@bokorthedust I didn't know that, but I quess you can still get them to 99% with similar effect and AI would make separate peace.
Yeah, you could try, but it's definitely harder to manage. Plus any transferred forts will be fully replenished once a peace has been signed so it will also take some time to resiege stuff, and in the meantime you have to be careful not to push them into unconditional surrender.

I like the “vassalize then release” technique.

I can’t find this in any one spot, but I see references to it in many. What tags, besides the Manchu, have a sinicized version of their culture available to them?

in 1.33 changelog

- A new decision has been added, which allows Korea, Tibetan and Vietnamese countries to Sinicize their culture, changing the primary culture and all of its provinces to a custom culture, which is part of the Chinese culture group.

- Forming Yuan will now Sinicize the Mongol cultures (Khalkha, Korchin, Mongol and Oirat).

I should have phrased my question entirely differently, my apologies. What are these respective cultures? I assume one each (so a Chinese version of Korean, of Tibetan, of Vietnamese, and of Mongol), correct?

Does the new CB for the hundred years war make any difference? Specifically, as France can you get all of your cores back in this war?
For France, it has the same warscore cost and AE than a reconquest war. But you can't get the warscore cost discount for occupying the wargoal which you can get in the reconquest war(if you use Bordeaux, you can save about 6 WS). Still it is no problem to get all cores back.

How is the amount of Imperial Authority gain for adding a country to the HRE via the Expand Empire CB determined? I figure it has something to do with the size/dev of the nation being added, though I've seen it vary wildly from anywhere from less than 4 to like 40+, so I'm not really sure how the scaling on it works... I can't find anything on the wiki about it either.

From the HRE page of the wiki:

+0.10 per province development that is added to the Empire (i.e. connected to the capital) using the "Expand Empire" casus belli (plus additional IA bonuses for Great Projects and Centres of Trade)

Holy crap, my first attempt at a Manchu game on 1.33 got wrecked hard by Ming.

I waited until I'd finished off Korea before forming Manchu/attacking them (1480s, we were both on tech 7) and oh my god. 90k+ against my ~ 30k was a slaughter on my end.

Do you need to go in as soon as you physically can (before 1450 if possible) to make it a bit easier?

The usual advice is to go in early, with a tech advantage, because Ming starts with a mediocre ruler.
IME it takes a few years to actually form Manchu, and you do want to get enough dev to trigger the disaster for Ming if possible, but you should aim to do so before 1460. Tech 6 is the key one here, as it gives you a new cavalry unit, and your fighting armies should be 100% cavalry, with a couple of stacks of infantry or mercs for sieging.
I have seen streamers go for a war with Ming only one or two years in to the game, as soon as they hit tech 4, and pull it off, but that requires being very good at warfare micro and taking out a *lot* of loans; I think tech 6 is the better target, and if you can hit Ming while it's in another war even better.
Either way, you're not going to 100% Ming in the first war, aim to take Beijing and peace out for cash and land before Ming can bring its full might to bear.

What happens if you made a christian nation your tributary and your tributary is in danger of getting PUd? Do you keep the tributary or gets the relationship broken? Anyone had this happen? Or does the tributary relationship prevents becoming a junior partner?

Becoming any other type of subject ends the tributary relationship. You can for example diplo-vassalize other people's tributaries with no penalty.

Hello, i wanted to launch a campaign with majapahit but afterwards i have some questions. What are the buddha events? Surya, for example, allows you to have a good heir every 15 years, most allow you to increase your mana by one or two points under certain conditions, and Buddha?
Another question, how to quickly remove the "mandala" government? I am in 1540 and I formed Malaysia but the -33% governance is a plague.
Thank you in advance.

AFAIK, there are no special events for Hindus with Buddha as their personal deity. FYI, the MTTH for all the Hindu deity events was significantly increased about a year ago, meaning that those events are much less likely to occur. I used to love playing Hindu, now it's kinda meh.

You should be able to remove the Mandala government immediately - get 50 gov reform progress and switch to another reform on the same level. It sounds like you're going expansionist and not playing the vassal game. So, if you don't have any other special reforms available, Autocracy is probably the best bet (to save 10% dip mana on every peace deal).

Is there any way to see with version of EU4 an old savegame was saved with? I have a few I'd like to finish, started on various different patches dating back to even before the Third Rome DLC.

Try this:
  • Copy the save file (because you probably shouldn't risk corrupting the original)
  • Rename the copy from"whatever.eu4" to "whatever.zip"
  • Open the zip file
  • You should see 3 files inside the zip: "ai", "gamestate", "meta"
  • Open "meta" in a text editor (if the standard windows notepad app doesn't work, try a "proper" text editor like notepad++)
  • Ignore all of the weird characters
  • Look for the EU4 version number near the start of the file - probably on the first or second line
  • The following lines will show you which DLC and mods were active, which might also be useful
