How can i tell the status of a siege? I still dont understand when i'm about to win. It'll say 46% and then "You have successfully seiged blah blah" How do i know when i'm close?

How can i tell the status of a siege? I still dont understand when i'm about to win. It'll say 46% and then "You have successfully seiged blah blah" How do i know when i'm close?

That's the chance the city falls to your besiegers. At or below 0%, it's definitely NOT going to happen next round. Above 0%, you're looking at that level of chance that your men take the city. You can also get a feel for how likely the next stage is to progress the siege by looking at the other values in the siege box -- things like whether your men are supported by cannon, a good siege leader, or friendly ships along the coast. The higher those values are, the more likely your men are to advance that percentage next round.

Someone mentioned the Peasant War event, but you should have seen that. I also discovered the hard way yesterday that if you declare war on someone you had Military Access from you get a -5 stability hit. Even if your ally declares war on them and you just get dragged in. That's the biggest hit I've seen that would be easy to miss the warning.

You also get -1 if you declare war on someone you're in a royal marriage with. So if you got into a war with one of your old diplomatic pals, that would do -6.

Damn, this has to be it. I was a member of a coalition against France, with whom I had a RM and military access. That was pretty devastating. Thanks!

What uncolonized provinces have the highest base tax yield? The Caribbean has between 4-7, with many base 6 provinces. Are there any regions that are better?

Those are definitely up there in initial tax base. There are others with a similarly high tax base scattered around. Also, keep in mind that natives get "converted" to additional tax base and manpower when your colony becomes a city as well.

I've only played the tutorials so far, but I thought I would ask this question right away:

In the Spain tutorial you are asked to choose the "Complete the Reconquista" mission. The criteria for completing it are 'no ruler in the Spanish Peninsula region may be muslim'.

Based on that instruction the mission should complete the very moment you annex Granada (as you will then be the ruler of the province), yet not only did I annex and core the province as the tutorial instructed me (though I chose to use the 'Holy War' CB rather than the 'Conquest' CB, I was told to use), I also without being prompted sent missionaries to convert both Granada and the two other provinces in the Spanish Peninsula region with a muslim presence (all of them under Castillian control), and still the mission just stayed there incomplete.

What went wrong?

1. I had to annex Granada using the 'Conquest' CB granted by the mission?

2. I was supposed to manually trigger completion on the "Missions and Decisions" interface?

3. Other obvious oversight on my part?

4. Bug in the tutorial?

5. General bug in the mission mechanics?

6. Completely different reason?

Yeah, I thought it was crazy -5 stability hit for breaking military access, when you only get -1 for attacking your marriage relations. Skimming over the message it was definitely not clear. Maybe if I had read it closer it would be. I saw it said -5 military access, but I thought it was a relation hit with all my allies or something for breaking a treaty. Hit accept and horrible things happened. Guess you need to be really careful about military access. I'd joined Venice against Serbia and my army was on its way back home, still in the middle of Hungary, when the Venetians attacked Hungary and instant -5 stability. #_#.

I played through the Tutorial in the demo with no problems. It's the first time ever the tutorial in a Paradox game actually worked for me.

However, you got hit by #4. Between the time the demo came out and the game released (like three days) they made it much harder to convert provinces because people were complaining. I'd guess the tutorial was not updated and the mission is now impossible. That's what usually happens to their tutorials. Patched in changes to the mechanics break them. Hopefully they will sort it out in the patch. Doesn't help you now though.

EDIT: Actually, I misread your post the tutorial didn't ask you to convert the provinces. I'd say it broke because you didn't use the correct CB.

Reached my first diplo tech level and unlock docks and markets.
Docks are +0.33 trade and some ship repair
Market +1 local trade.
Am I missing something or are markets much much better to build in all my english provinces.

I couldn't be sure, but it's possible the tutorial had some special condition in its script where it expected you to follow its instructions and click Conquest. Usually, a few ticks of the calendar after you complete the mission and you'll get a message letting you know that it was a success. I've never had it take any longer than the end of the month, and it's usually the very day after the objective was met.

I would agree that Markets are priority one and Docks can wait (though having one for repairs isn't a bad idea...)

Is there a way to quickly remove those cloud ironman saves? Or should I have named my first one just "Ironman" and always used that for all campaigns if I don't the list to bloat...
