Hi there,

I have a quick question about save editing.

I'm currently playing a CK2 conversion game. For some reason, the game has forgotten the regnal numbers of certain names... even though I've checked and they are definitely specified in the conversion mod files. So while for some names it will continue from the numbering from CK2, others it stars from 1 again. As an example, while it will correctly number a ruler named 'Sior' as 'Sior X Mathrafal', it will number a ruler named 'Meilyr' as 'Meilyr I Mathrafal', even though it should be 'Meilyr IV Mathrafal'.

So I was wondering how the game deals with regnal numbers and why it might not have stuck for certain names. I've checked my save file and I've found my guy-- there are two references, one starts 'heir=' and the second 'monarch='. I've also noted that treats the name and regnal number as a single thing, so for my guy it says name="Meilyr I"... would simply changing it to 'Meilyr IV' work, and would a future ruler named Meilyr be called Meilyr V or does it figure out regnal numbering by some other means?

Thanks for the tips!

How exactly does the Non Tributary Mandate penalty work? If I have a 1000 development nation in America and annex a coastal province in China does Ming get the penalty for all my development or just the province?

Currently going for an ideas guy run, started with one province close to Cape in South Africa. After a while I started to conquer the spice islands, setting up trade companies in the region. Everything's going fine.

All of a sudden my Malaccan trade company disappeared. I did NOT turn any of the provinces into a state, nor did I do anything else that should make it vanish. The only thing I did, which may or may not be related, is that I moved my capital from my starting province. I moved it from Xhosa to Cape to fullfil the objective "large capital" in Age of revolutions. The provinces are close to each other, and in the same node.

Not only is my company gone, I can no longer make a trade company in any of the provinces in the Malacca node.

My companies in The Moluccas and Philippines are still there. Does anyone have a clue about what's going on? Would be greatly appreciated.

looks like bug, post this in bug report thread with save before and after capital move. explain problem, see what devs say :)

How do I get Magdeburg out the coalition?

Some options: DoW the coalition; full annex them; vassalise them; or just wait and eventually the coalition will disband.

There are some hard and fast rules about who can join a coalition and when but it doesn't seem to be so clear how to get nations out of a coalition (except that at the conclusion of a coalition war, the coalition will disband irrespective of the result). In my experience it's best to not let them form in the first place. Truce juggling combined with a very high amount of Improve Relations allow you to conquer the world without a coalition ever forming against you. I like to get enough IR so that my AE ticks at a rate of about 5 per year. That means you can take a 120 AE peace deal and by the time the 15 year truce is out they will be back below 50.

How do I get Magdeburg out the coalition?

it's bugged.

restarting game should fix it.

Normally nations leave coalition at positive opinion. Or, at least switch from outraged attitude to something else.

It used to be 50 opinion that made them leave, but they lowered that to 0.

But it's buggy. sometimes they leave, sometimes there are stragglers.

Restarting should fix it.

If not, bug report it with a save attached.

I know you've got them out now but, for future reference, a couple of extra points.

Firstly, I'm pretty sure that a nation cannot leave voluntarily within the first two years of joining a coalition. They can be forced out (by a truce, for example) but they cannot leave just because relations are high enough. Perhaps that was why they didn't leave straight away in your case?

Secondly, if you get relations up to over 50 then they will usually agree to ally you. Your ally cannot remain in a coalition against you so this will force them out. Once you've got them out you can then cancel the alliance which will give you a truce so, even if their relations go negative again because they are unhappy at you cancelling the alliance, they cannot rejoin for at least five years.

I'm the emperor as Austria, and the league war ended in a white peace, resulting in religious peace in the empire. But my IA still won't grow because of too many herectic princes.

I'm not able to use deus vult on any of them because of religious peace. Working as intended or bug? And how do I deal with it?

'Just' force their religion in a regular war... Also, IIRC the penalty is half the usual amount since neither side managed to enforce their religion

Working as intended. If you wanted to force them to convert, you should have won the league war. Try the diplomatic approach, there's an emperor action to politely ask for conversion.
Note that the penalty for heretic princes is halved with religious peace, so it's not all bad.

I know, but I just had no chance with the Ottos, Spain and Russia ganging up on me, Poland not having the union didn't help either. As for myself I didn't manage to secure my own unions with Bohemia and Hungary either. I have England, but as usual they won't help for **** during wars. Terrible playthrough really.

Reminder: the recently posted patch notes for the forthcoming Patch 1.21 indicated that there was a serious bug in the "leave coalition" logic which could cause countries to stay in far longer than they should.
