How do I prevent my vassal from surrendering unlawful territory? is this supposed to occur?

BE723086C4484948BE2BE5B641B05B60F1F6082D

The only way to stop it is to stay at war until they have cored it so that they don't get the demand. And it is currently working as designed that the demand goes to the vassal. There has been talk about changes to this but, to date, no changes announced.

In my recent game as Russia, I was at war with the Crimea and the event "Fate of the Crimean Khanate" happened. The event led to Crimea remaining independent from the Ottomans. To my surprise, my war with the Crimea was automatically white peaced with the conclusion of the event. Is this working as intended or was it a bug? If intended, it is really stupid as I was about to annex them completely.

I have a quick Burgundian inheritance question. I always thought that if you wanted to inherit as Spain you needed to cut Austria down to size or somehow make them lose the HRE title, so that the next emperor would be small. But looking into the files, it seems that even if 1) there is an emperor, 2) there is a CAS/SPA, and 3) there are RMs, there's still at 15% chance that Spain/Castile inherits outright?

Figured as much, but thought I'd ask anyway, in hopes of tracking it down. It's really weird, and as far as any of us can tell shouldn't have happened.

I think I know what happened.
You said "calls to allies go out before calls to allies of enemies".
But my inital question was "can I make Luxemburg a co-belligerent" and if I make that, doesnt go my declaration of war to both of them at the same time?

Is it a new thing in 1.20 that full diplomacy ideas don't erase the -1 stability modifier from a RM with your target in a declaration of war?

I don't recall that they ever did. You can cancel the royal marriage without taking a stab hit if you have filled out the diplomatic ideas but if you attack whilst the marriage is active then you still take the stab hit. So, cancel the marriage and then wait a month before declaring the war.

How do I get around Religious Zeal? I have 20 years to get One Faith, but there is a 22 year timer on the modifier.

Can I release as vassal and then force force religion in war? That get's rid of the reformation centers, and I think they also have Religious Zeal. But perhaps there is a different mechanic beacuse of the center.

You remove the Center of Reformation by converting the province. As far as I know, there is no way to convert a province with religious zeal, you have to wait it out.

If you force religion on any nation through war they will change their STATE religion, AFAIK. They still have to convert their provinces to the state religion, which is impossible with religious zeal. Same for forcing religion through subiect interaction.

You can force religion on an OPM if they are in your religious group and that will change the religion in their capital. If they are bigger than an OPM then you need to make sure the province in question is their capital so that may need two wars, one to reduce them and another to force convert their final province. Both cases may need truce breaks but you're probably not worried about that.

If they are not in your religious group then it may be a bit more complicated but there may still be ways to do this but you'd need to give more information about the province in question to get some useful help.

No, that doesn't explain it. If Lux is not co-belligerent, they can't call allies, period. If they are, Lux gets the call on the day that you declare, which is the same day your allies get the call. Lux's allies get called the next day.

Note that I haven't checked if this was changed for the current patch, but that's how it's always been, and if it was changed it's an undocumented change, as there's nothing in the patch notes that would indicate it.

However, I suspect things still work the same way, and that Lux has nothing to do with it, because the game already told us that it called in Austria because of Brunswick, not Lux.
