Quick question, did you decide to drop Vista support in 1.20? I get a Kernel32 error now, so I'm afraid you did :( A shame really after 19 compatible patches, but nothing else to do then to keep the game on 1.19 if it's true.
I am a bit disappointed as well...there was nothing in devdiary about stopping support for vista.I have bought MoH,got new patch and game stopped working.I did clean install, lost all the saves, and then by accident found out in techsupport that vista is not supported...it is a time to upgrade my pc anyway, but i feel cheated a bit by pdx...

During one of my wars I had 100% war score and I tried to use option to vassalize enemy but it is saying that my warscore must be higher than 100. How can I get 100 warscores?
I have conquered all his provinces, destroyed all armies, the only thing he has is small naval army which i cant destroy (I dont have access to the sea so I dotn have any ships).

If the vassalization warscore is over 100%, you can't vassalize him in one war. What does it say the vassalization would cost?

If you sit on him long enough, I think over five years, the warscore required starts going down by a little every year, but that will be difficult to do without the ability to have a battle or a siege occasionally.

The country you are trying to vassalize is too large (they have too much development). Take some of their provinces in this war to reduce their size and vassalize them in a later war. I think this was implemented so that the player can't take absurd amounts of land in a single war, be it even indirectly through a vassal.

I asked it before and got no response, but does the Pope behave differently if he is a vassal?

IE not create new creative ways to tax starving german peasants to fuel his saturnalias?

I wonder because Im trying to stop the shadow empire event, which is even harder now due to needing apruzzi and wonder if keeping the papacy as a vassal to slow down the reformation is worth the diplo hit.

Also how are you supposed to stop it now? Hope naples gets independence or the binding of dynasties hasnt fired yet?

If I were to create a cavalry division (in other words, all-cavalry) and then send it into a battle with my infantry division (all infantry plus an artillery), is the support penalty nullified because of the presence of my infantry division?

Great, how does that even happen? Isn't the savegame in the "cloud" partly to avoid something like this?

Among other possibilities, if the game was started in 1.19.2 and you are now using 1.20 it won't be ironman compatible.

If I were to create a cavalry division (in other words, all-cavalry) and then send it into a battle with my infantry division (all infantry plus an artillery), is the support penalty nullified because of the presence of my infantry division?

As long as the resulting mix of troops falls within your support limit the penalty will be nullified, yes. The penalty doesn't care about specific armies, just the total troops present in the fight.

The Pope doesn't really change in any important way, and the modifier definitely sucks. The last time I fought the shadow empire event, my solution was to take most of his land early, then take his last province, click the "reign in Italy" button, don't bother coring Rome (the button doesn't require cores), and then let the Pope have Rome back when he asks. You have AE with the Pope, but now the Pope is in the Empire, and otherwise things are back to normal.

Also, why does Naples matter? Naples holds none of the required land.

In short, you're not; it's an admitted bug, and on the list of things to be fixed (back) in whatever hotfix we get.
Also, why does Naples matter? Naples holds none of the required land.
1.20 is improperly set to require Abruzzi, a province owned by Naples. Devs already responded to the issue, on Reddit, saying it's unintentional and going to be reverted.
Do mercenaries you hire benefit from your military idea buffs (e.g. discipline, combat ability)?
Yes. Although there is debate on these forums about whether they would be more balanced if they did not.

Is Arguin classified as an island? (As it doesn't border any other provinces?) I appear to have made the tactical error of having my custom nation's capital in Cape Verde and from my understanding, instituions will not spawn on an island (fair enough) - or is it that you have to have your CAPITAL not be an island (even if you have mainland provinces in you capital area) to spawn them? I seem to be pretty much SoL this time, which ever, but it would be nice to know.

I'm rally confused now. Colonalism spawned in France, in a coastal province that was not in the same state as Paris... What is "is_in_capital_area" mean, then? Does it just mean that it has to have a land connection or what? (I can maybe extrapolate that, but it's really not clear it works that way).

Not to my knowledge.
(As it doesn't border any other provinces?)
It borders province 1793 (El Djouf), which is wasteland.

I'm not sure which it is, but it makes no difference in your case. If you can make Arguin your capital, you're good to go. If you're unwilling or unable to wait until it grows up into a city on its own, I suggest "losing" a war in which you give up Cape Verde; with Arguin as your only remaining province, it becomes your capital (and becomes a city).

Yes, that's how it works. Must have land connection to capital. No, it's not clear from the name it is given, sadly.
