I have a specific example as well: I managed to colonize the whole Cape colonial region (that is, I lanlocked the inner potential colonies, by getting the seaside ones). In this case, does it make any sense in adding all of them to my trading company, or is it enough to have a one-region trading company, since there should be no other country with acces to this colonial region (--> 100% province trade value in Cape trade node anyway)?

I am asking this, because, if I am not wrong, I would anyway get the extra-merchant without having to lose the manpower/tax "bonus" because of the trading company. Or do the benefits pay for all the provinces added to the trading company (not sure if the doubled trade bonuses here actually count at all in the next trade nodes, that's my main problem)?

PS: I play as Portugal and I control the Seville trade node, but still struggling against Castille to control the Ivory Coast and still a few provinces away to get control of Safi from Morocco.

Well, if there is no other country colonizing in the Cape colonial region, I suppose there is no chance of not having 100% province trade power here. Or am I missing something?

The trade company region consists of 4 areas that you can make into states (one of them has only one low dev province). The area with by far the most trade power is the "Cape of Good Hope". It is pretty difficult (not impossible but not worth the effort) to get to 51% province trade power for your trade company without that area added to it.

It doesn't matter how much trade power you have in that region. Your trade company (consisting only of the provinces you have added to it) needs 51% of the trade power that is generated by all provinces in that trade company region.

When you get a Call to arms - window (where you have to click on accept or deny) and you want to quit playing the game and close the game - will the window pop up again, when you start next time ?

you used to be able to 'kill' the game, as call to arms was only 60 days after start of war maximum..

if you reloaded then until ally was unable to send another cta, cta wouldn't appear again.

they changed that, i think the cta limit is now 30 months.

unless you have loads of loans, other ongoing wars, or a load of war exhaustion, your attacked allies will keep sending cta, until the 30 month period treshold is reached.

you could say paradox killed a bird.. or was it a squirrel :rolleyes:

A part of your trade power in a node is added to the node before. So all nations who has trade power in the Ivory node will also get trade power in Cape trade node.

This propagation of trade power means you will never get 100% of trade power even if you own all provinces in a trade node. You need to have all in the trade node + most provinces in the upstream and downstreams nodes to get over 90% trade power in a node.

Provincal trade power propagates. But also if the propagated trade power will be less then 1, it will be rounded down to 0.

So there is no magic >75 trade power for it to propagare.

What does the first sentence mean?

people used to kill eu4 in task manager or save/restart a couple of times, to avoid call to arms from allies (defensive and offensive calls). The game would store the date the war started, and if you did stop the game with ongoing call to arms, the ai nations would then stop sending call to arms after 2 months, because of the 60 days limit to send them :)

now an ai nation can send call to arms to an ally, up to a limit of 30 months after the war started.

I think that is how it works still, unless I'm mixing up stuff here.

You can still dodge an offensive CTA by quitting normally, reloading and unchecking join offensive wars before you I pause. It's kind of cheating, though.

You can pre-emptively avoid them by setting your allies likely targets as friendly in diplo-feedback. You can avoid defensive CTAs by being so strong no one wants to get into a war with you.

Can you annex "free cities" of the HRE like normal provinces? I think the emperor joins that war to defend them, but if you beat him - will you suffer great consequences?

They are generally pretty highly developed and suffer from the massive HRE AE issue so taking one can pretty easily get you coalition dog-piled in the early game.
