What are the factors that determine whether vassal armies attach to your armies in a war? I just can't figure it out. Sometimes allies and vassals cooperate perfectly, other times they just don't do what I want for no apparent reason.

It's a bit black magic to get it to happen. Moving your unit to the province with the unit you want to attach to your army can make it happen. But sometimes they got another objective and refuse to attach.

Also make sure you have set your vassal to be supportive.

England is one of the nations who do convert provinces so forcing their religion will have them convert the CoR, killing it in the process.

If Reformation hits and they switch you get the usual malus or lack of a bonus for "same religion" but that's it.

No trouble.

It's not for the number of nation, it's for the number of point allowed to them (more power, better king, ..)

I'm still trying to getting a better understanding of the states/territories mechanics..

Should I only turn territories into states if they are:

a) desirable land
b) low autonomy

If the land is good, turn it into a State. The autonomy will come down over time. If you go to States and Territories in the Ledger, you can sort all your land by State development. Sometimes you'll want to prioritize areas for Trade node reasons, but mostly it's fine to just make states in order of development.

I understand it's important to prioritize ... high loyalty & low influence.
As long as influence is below 80, you're in no danger; you can even run 85-89 for up to four years without triggering the disaster (although that is cutting it extremely close and I would not recommend that). Many people do advise keeping it at 70 or below, as there are random events for the estates that can add 10 (or even 15) to one estate's influence. Either way, you should be safe at 60-65, which imparts a slightly higher primary bonus, and if your loyalty is also over 60 (which is a little more difficult, as it decays naturally over time towards 50), you'll gain the secondary bonus from the estate as well.
Is there an efficient method to sort out which land to give to which Estate?
High trade value -> Burghers
High manpower -> Nobility
High base tax -> Clergy
Tied for two -> Flip a coin
Tied for three -> Flip two coins
(I'm kidding about the coin flipping. Use your best judgement, and pay close attention to the influence it puts them at.)
Primitives always pop out with their original religion
This however isn't true for totemists. Is this only true for central and south american religions?

Thank you very much Heindrich. And what advice could you offer for managing Estates?
I understand it's important to prioritize ... high loyalty & low influence. Is there an efficient method to sort out which land to give to which Estate?

Actually the ideal situation is to always have Estates at 75% influence and loyal, so you can extra maximum value out of them every 20 years. In practice it's a pain to manage that close to the danger mark and you're better off keeping influence between 40-60 so u can get most of the benefit without constantly managing potential disasters.

Basic Rules for Estates:

  1. All provinces with local trade power bonuses (estuaries, centers of trade, etc) go to the Burghers.
  2. Check your provinces' local autonomy, give provinces with high autonomy to your estates. These are usually your latest conquests. As you expand you should be regularly revoking land estates have had for a long time (and autonomy at 25%) and give them the new provinces.
  3. Check the value of the trade goods in the high autonomy provinces. High trade value goods (Silk, Iron, Salt, Cloth) etc should be prioritized for Burghers, or even consider manually reducing autonomy and keeping it for yourself. (Gold provinces should never be given to estates).
  4. Low trade good value provinces should be given to Clergy or Nobles, depending on the ratio of Tax and Manpower development. I tend to prioritize Clergy in close circumstances because they reduce unrest and the Nobles don't give any direct economic benefit.

Thank you.
That is however weird considering Huron would pop out as non-totemist and Zapotec would still have their original faith in my save game.
Did Huron reform? A better way to tell: Does their land have Feudalism embraced?

Nahuatl/Inti/Mayan religions have a much longer path to reforming, which might be why you're observing that.

Question about the Treaty of Tordesillaz:
"With El Dorado DLC, the first Catholic nation to form a Colonial Nation (that is, to core 5 provinces in a Colonial Region) while the Papal State's opinion of them is at +50 or more, will be assigned that region. That nation and their associated colonial nation will receive a +10 increase to settler growth within the region. A single nation can have any number of colonial regions assigned to them by the Pope.

When my Colonial Nation formed, I had the Papal state as a rival. He didnt give me the Treaty of Tordesillaz, of course. Now I ended the Rivalry and am improving Relations.
Will he give me the Treaty afterwards?

Question about the decision "Embrace the counter-Reformation":
This decision gives you +2 Missionaries and +5% idea and technology-cost (forever).
BUT it is said in the text "if we ever embrace the idea ‘Ecumenism’ or ~"French egalitè blabla" we will lose this bonus."

SO - I have Humanism ideas but the ECUMENISM idea is 800 admin points ahead.
Is it possible, that I take the Counter-Reformation and get +2 Missionaries and when I want, I take the Humanism-Ecumenism idea and lose the missionaries AS WELL AS the +5% malus?
DO I GET RID OF BOTH?

If you mean reform to a monarchy then yes I do believe so.
Both the Zapotec and Huron lands have at least feudalism embraced.

If you mean reform to a monarchy then yes I do believe so.
Both the Zapotec and Huron lands have at least feudalism embraced.
Then they're no longer primitive, and when their lands were converted, they were not released as the original religion.
Curious about Zapotec, but depending on how long it's been since you annexed them, that doesn't necessarily tell us anything.
