What are some ways where to lose the theocratic/ monastic order government type?
Rebels or releasing a nation with a different government type, then playing as the released vassal.

Is there any reason why the Global Trade Institution might spawn late? It is 1601 in my Byzantium game and it still hasn't spawned. I know that Colonialism can be late if nobody reached the Americas, but I wasn't aware that Global Trade can also be late. I am not going to win it, but I wonder why it hasn't spawned in Sevilla or Lubeck yet.

I have right now very weird and similar situation. It is 1610 and still no global trade.I play Commonwealth.my trading port is in the Baltic trade node. This is the richest trade node according to tolltip in the ledger.3rd and second are lubeck and genua.difference is in 1-2 ducats in between.I build manufactories everywhere cos wonted to have one institution...Turn up You have to have it your capital in Your collecting node to spawn GT...But to answer your question I think that there is some margin in between trade node to spawn institution.when there is more contenders global trade is delayed.

Will Castille be able to colonize, when I take all their coastal provinces, but they still have the canares?
Will Castille be able to colonize, when I take all their coastal provinces, and they dont have the canares?

Will they still colonize new provinces, when I take everything but they have 1 colony-province left?
What happens to their colonies when the country loses access to the ocean?

yes and yes, if they already have colonial nations. colonizers can always colonize next to colonial nations, even if they got no port.

and yes, they will make their 1 colony a main city immediatly, and colonize on (especially on very hard). Colonies just keep existing after both CN and overlord lose access to ocean. how this works with treasure fleets... ehhh... i dunno.

Savoy declared War on Switzerland in the "Conquest of Waldstätte". All of the Sudden its a war between:
Savoy, France, Milan (who were allied) vs Switzerland, Wurttemberg, Memmingen (who were allies) AND Bohemia, Ottomans, Crimea and Ryazan.
Why could that be?
I cant figure out how Ottomans fit into the picture. They have no alliance with any of them and the war just started, they were immideately in.

Savoy is probably outside the Empire and Bohemia is probably the Emperor. This would mean that Bohemia are called in automatically on the defensive side and are called in as a co-belligerent so they can call their own allies. If The Ottomans are allied to Bohemia then this may explain why they joined. Alternatively, they may have intervened as a Great Power to balance out the involvement of France on the aggressor's side.

I have tried to find a list of countries by government types like Holy Orders or Mechant Republics on wiki but I am not able to find such list.
Any advice where can I find it?

Yes, thx, that was it. Bohemia is the emperor and has an alliance with Ottomans.

Next question:
I was able to use the situation and occupy Tlemcen while Ottomans busy. Wanted to make them a vasall and then feed them later with Tunis.
But I only can make them a protectorate!
Can I also feed a protecorate? If not, what can I do now?

I haven't played endgame much to answer your question with much confidence, but I can tell you that:

  1. They became your Protectorate instead of vassal because of the difference in technology cost. i.e. they are behind you in institutions.
  2. Protectorates are currently broken. When they adopt your institutions and close that tech cost gap, they will break free, so it's pretty pointless to feed them even if you can.

I don't know about a list... but if you start any game in 1444, you can look at Government Type map mode to quickly find all the Merchant Repubs and Holy Orders.

Has anybody seen/heard any information from PDX regarding any incoming changes to liberty desire? I think it's totally absurd that if I conquer a province and give it to a vassal, it reduces liberty desire, but if I feed it to them directly in a reconquest war, it increases liberty desire (or rather I get no liberty desire reduction for obviously doing something nice for them).

So, I want to have a vasall and I would like to feed Tunis to it. But I can only make Tlemcen a protectorate. Would the following work:

I take all/most Provinces of Tlemcen in the peace deal, but i dont core them. Then I release Tlemcen (or maybe Algiers) AS A VASALL and feed them all the other provinces.
Possible?

I can't give a definite answer because I've never tried it myself. I'm not that experienced, under 1,000 hrs in EUIV :D

To be safe you'd want your institutions to be present in the provinces you want to release, to ensure that your new subject has the same tech cost as you, but perhaps that's not necessary.

Neext thing: I have a ruler with only weak (or average) claim. Now I have legitimacy around 40. If I get any overextension (over 10%) I get unrest.
The heir has an "average" claim.
If the ruler dies, will the legitimacy completely start new for that ruler?
So, should I try to increase legitimacy (for example possible through Papal Influence) or will that be reseted, when my heir becomes ruler?
If I should increase legitimacy, how?

Legitimacy is reset on ruler death. Don't boost it unless your ruler is young-ish and you intend to keep him around as long as possible.

The easiest way to boost Legitimacy is very the Strengthen Government button in the Government tab. It costs 100 Mil pts per 10 Legitimacy and is not worth it unless you are well ahead of time on Mil Tech and low legitimacy is causing problems.
