I'm trying to integrate a PU subject but the integration keeps pausing whenever I'm at war. It still says it takes dip points but none go towards it and my montly dip increase still includes the 4 or so that should be going to the integration, despite the dropdown thing listing them as a - still. Is this intended or a bug?

Edit: Awhile in to the war now and the progress seems to be increasing again. Still lost a couple months though which is pretty annoying. Has happened in previous wars too.

Annexation of vassals and integration of PU juniors will pause if any of the subject's provinces are occupied.

There's also the noble estate disaster, which turns you into a noble republic... which despite its name, is still considered a form of monarchy.

Yes, that would be another way of getting out of Iqta to a regular monarchy. Some of the ways I listed of getting a republic would also work directly from Iqta (probably everything except the Oligarchic/Plutocratic Administration decisions).

I thought it was only if the capital was occupied?

No. It is if any province is occupied. There was a bug in previous versions of the game where provinces which were occupied when annexation (or integration) finished would not actually become your provinces but would instead become cores of the occupying country. To fix that bug it was decided to change the game so that any occupation would stall progress.

First you need to get out of Iqta, which means either abandoning Islam or waiting until Admin 12 for the decision.

Then you have a choice between:

Aristocratic + Influence to become an Oligarchic Republic by decision
Trade + Economic to become a Merchant Republic by decision
Get Revolutionary rebels (e.g. from the Aspiration for Liberty disaster), let them enforce on you to form a Constitutional Republic
Move your capital to Europe and trigger the Revolution disaster (can't happen until 1750), forming a Revolutionary Republic
Scheming Bureaucracy event to become a Bureaucratic Despotism (needs Admin 20, rare event so not a reliable option)
Form England or Great Britain, trigger the Civil War disaster, go with the Parliamentarian options to eventually get a Constitutional Republic

There may be a few more, but I think they get increasingly hare-brained after this point. If you just want to play a regular old Republic, I'd take Aristocratic + Influence.
I can't believe I forgot those decisions. Silly me.

Austria broke our longstanding alliance with me in my Brandenburg-Prussia game. I have done quite a lot that probably upset him recently, I would appreciate it if somebody could tell me if there was a specific trigger, so I'll know to avoid it in a future game where I don't want to upset the Emperor/Emperor-to-be.

Firstly a screenshot of the relations modifiers I have with Austria. Unfortunately this isn't just after he broke the alliance. I stopped the game a few months after the alliance broke and just loaded it up now, and a few recalculations may have been made.

20170126141318_1.jpg

Things that I think might be triggers (in order of likelihood):

  1. I conquered Holstein and Slesvig from Denmark. I gave both provinces to my vassal, Dithmarschen. Dithmarschen then released Holstein (presumably due to Unlawful Territory demand)... so I conquered Holstein myself immediately and rejected the Emperor's Unlawful Demand. Note that Austria is NOT the Emperor (current Emperor is The Platinate).
  2. I diplomatically annexed my vassal, Dithmarschen.
  3. I formed Prussia in 1518. When I did it, I immediately got an alert saying that Austria may break their alliance with me. Funnily enough, Austrian attitude to me at that very moment was Unknown. i.e. I"We are friends of Brandenburg, who the hell is Prussia?!"... Does Prussia and Austria have some hidden Historic Rival modifier or something? In any case the alert went away after a monthly tick and Austrian attitude returned to Allied.
  4. I took a mission to conquer a province in Hungary and cancelled to cycle the missions. It gave me a claim on that province that I still have for some reason. (I thought mission claims only last as long as you have the mission). Austria considers that province to be of vital importance. Aside from that one province, we have no border friction.
  5. I became Protestant... But this happened nearly 10 years ago.
  6. I allied France, an Austrian rival... But this happened decades ago.
ps: If it matters at all... I am actually voting for Austria to be the next Emperor, as is every other Elector at the moment, even the current Emperor.

A Revolutionary Republic or Revolutionary Empire can only be formed by going through the Revolution Disaster. The wiki has a good page on this.

What generally l gives the most efficient return pirate-hunting, maximal guns/a fleet of heavy ships or maximal sailing speed/a light ship fleet? Don't suppose the balance changes with tech much?

Relationship is only one factor amongst many.
Total relationship, that is. Not its modifiers on their own.

Hover over the × or ✓ next to "Offer Alliance" to see all modifiers influencing their willingness to ally you. If it's negative, there's a chance they will break it.

To prevent it you want to increase trust. It doesn't vanish and has a decent weight.
You also want to avoid allying their rivals or rivaling their allies. The negative modifier on that is a massive -50.
Last but not least you obviously want their opinion of you to stay positive.

Last time I checked the AI stops pirating once you defend it and only looks at its chances every 12 months.
Meaning the most effective pirate-hunting fleet is 100% barques, hunt pirates once, switch them to protect trade or pirating afterwars.
Earns you money in the process.

Would need a second opinion on that one though.

I guess that if ADM tech is not 31(for example 27) , i will get Constitutional Republic after Revolution Disaster.

Edit : Look at Screenshots. Am i missing something or wiki is old? So what is your suggestions? Am i waiting ADM 31 or gets 25 loans and start Revolution Disaster. now?

Negative stability is needed to allow the disaster to start but for it to progress you need to be bankrupt (2% per month), have 5 war exhaustion (1% per month), have negative prestige (1% per month), have lots of loans (0.5% per month for between 10 and 25 loans and 1% per month for 25 loans or more).

It doesn't look like you currently meet any of those conditions and so this is why it is not progressing. If you just want to force it then start a war that you can win easily, let your enemy occupy a fort somewhere before you wipe them out, occupy their land, place one unit on your fort to stop the enemy recruiting anything there and then stand the rest your troops somewhere that they will take attrition needlessly. This should drive your war exhaustion over 5 and so give you a 1% per month ticking progress. Take out 25 loans to double that rate of progress and then just sit and wait for four years or so.

When the disaster fires you will then need to lose to the rebels that spawn so mothball all your forts and be prepared to just sit and wait for them to make their way to your capital.

I know i dont meet those conditions yet. My question is "after the disaster, Will it be Revolutionary Republic or another constutional republic because of my ADM tech?

The tooltip in game telling you that you need tech 31 is wrong. You cannot manually switch to this government and you will get it if you lose to the rebels spawned by the disaster. Your admin tech level is irrelevant.
