What is the *real* formula for the number of seats required by a Parliament in 1.19? (Serious question; I've heard the official patch notes cannot be trusted on this matter.)

Are Constitutional Monarchy/Republic viable government types for large countries? Some of the bonuses for Debates seem quite nice, but it's hard to tell if the cost of winning the Debate is worth it.

It's worth it under very specialized circumstances, nameley one-tagging the world as a non-RCC tag - since you can get -15% Diplomatic Annexation cost from one of the debates

The problem with constitutional monarchy/republic is that they show up late game but parliaments are burdensome for large countries. The only time I find them useful is with English Monarchy, since England starts out small so winning debates isn't as hard.

Late game, if you want a republic go Revolutionary if you can. Otherwise for monarchies you are better off with Absolute, or possibly Enlightened Despotism.

It is 1601 in my Great Britain game and I am starting to have more ducats than I know what to do with. I have built shipyards in almost every coastal province I own, Markets in every province with CoT or Estuary, Churches and Workshops in every province that yields +0.10/m and Manufactories in every province yielding +0.50/m... I even built a few Barracks despite not lacking manpower.

Is it worth building Manufactories and other buildings in my colonial nations? I can build a lot of Manufactories in the Thirteen Colonies that would produce +0.58/m for them, but I hesitate to dump thousands of ducats on a CN that might rebel against me in the future if they get too strong and powerful, and obviously any increase in their income doesn't directly correspond with a proportional increase in me. What is the maths I should be doing on this? Is it ever worth building anything but Markets in CNs?

Well, if you really drown in money, then yes, build manufactories in your subject states upstream, and then tax buildings in your vassals. Also consider ditching all your regular infantry for mercs, that might be useful lategame, and build heavies to get the Grand Armada achievement. Go heavily above colonial limit, and well... At some point you effectively don't have anything to spend your money on.

Since Global Trade just spawned you'll need some cash on hand to embrace it, so keep that in mind. Beyond that, if you have too much cash you need a bigger army and fleet! Go start conquering.

Just because I forget... does a vassal falling to rebels affect their diplomatic annexation? They've got pretender rebels that have beaten the main army, and I'm still recovering from a bruising fight with the Ottomans and would rather not have to waste my efforts chasing them if it doesn't matter.

Also, any pointers on dealing with the Muscovy-Ottomans unholy alliance, other than 'ally every other major power in Europe?' Considering they have the number 1 and 2 army sizes respectively (I myself am number 3)

Yes, well, it depends on the rebel type, but in your case, they are noble rebels which means a new king, who is not your vassal.

Annexation, not integration. They're a vassal, not a PU.

Or did something change and pretender rebels actually declare independence now?

Sorry, I am tired, then they should only increase the autonomy of your vassals provinces, not good if you are integrating them I suppose, but they can also bug out and spit out other countries, if such exist to be spat out based on the history of the provinces. It's best to just merc up and kill them I would think, but that's me.

Which country are u? Are you Commonwealth? And if you're not, did the Commonwealth form? I find that Austria-Hungary and the Commonwealth to be strong enough (perhaps with a little help from player) to go toe to toe with the Ottomans just by themselves, and Commonwealth is stronger than Russia.

Wait until AdmEff3.

Horrible advice, but without getting any screenshots or similar to go into detail this is the only idea I have.

You want to hit them hard with your first war because it will be resource-intensive as hell.

Both have brutal amounts of MP, high FL, Ottos probably have Quantity (Musc too sometimes) and the sheer amount of provinces you'd have to siege down is enough to keep you busy way beyond the CfP hits.

First war with AE3, seperate peace Mus and only force them to annul treaties with Ottos. Don't worry about other alliances, every other nation should hate them at this point (provinces of interest). Don't care about the strategic value of provinces to take, just split up Ottos where you think it'll prove valuable.

AI gets hit hard by these maneuvers and if you want to take the extra step you can plaster your new provinces with forts and comfortably siege down whatever is on your half in the next one. Ottos upgrade later than other nations.

Make sure you split them in a way so no troops will get created or positioned on your side.

Example: Early game you want to split at the straight. The later it gets, the more eastward you will move. Just as a rule of thumb.


As for how to deal with them during their first war: You're at the AE3 point. Both have fallen off due to their bad scaling. You need at least offensive and a second mil tech. Anything below that will get complicated.

Unless you're a colonizer. In that case you just grab NA+SA with the usual route, get up to 1-2k income and throw mercs into their face to no end.
Did it as Castille once out of boredom. 90 units over my FL, permanent merc limit and consolidation whenever a stack was fleeing, took about 3 months per province.

WW1 in Anatolia, I guess.

Also, pretty much every country in that region's first priority should be to vassalize or annex Byzantium at the game start anyway. Then you have an easier time of it. And there is no way to break the alliance? Like recently I dumped a Hungarian alliance after their 57 year old King had a baby that didn't belong to my dynasty. They rivaled me but are allied to my main ally, Austria, they are also allied though to Milan. Which means I can dow Milan, which Austria will happily join, and in peacing out Hungary, break their Austrian alliance. Normally there is a way into such unions.

Increase.

Random numbers: One province gives +200MP per mil tech dev, the other gives +20MP. First one is green, the latter is red.

Which country are u? Are you Commonwealth? And if you're not, did the Commonwealth form? I find that Austria-Hungary and the Commonwealth to be strong enough (perhaps with a little help from player) to go toe to toe with the Ottomans just by themselves, and Commonwealth is stronger than Russia.

Yup, Commonwealth.

Horrible advice, but without getting any screenshots or similar to go into detail this is the only idea I have.

On a WC pace I'm not, but I'm not particularly trying for that.

Already had one war with the Ottos that I'm *still* paying off the debts for. They ignored Wallachia, so I ate it (or rather, had Moldavia eat it, then recently finally integrated them). Sometime later, after losing more MP than I cared to helping the Swedes throw off the Danes, they suddenly decided they wanted it then. It was a *lot* of mercs I burned through, and I think if the war had gone on much longer I'd have had to give it up, but I managed to lift their hold on Tirgoviste, which gave me enough score to white peace. Fortunately Ottomans rivaled France this game instead of making friends, and Austria and France have ended ambivalent of each other, allowing me to add France as an ally after that particular war, when Ottomans proceeded to ally Muscovy.

It's been a bit of a weird session - Austria is no longer Emperor (was unable to pass the Pragmatic Sanction and got an Empress), Aragon got a natural PU over Castile, leading to a reverse-Spain (I'm not quite sure why they haven't formed Spain, tbh, they've got the tech for it)

I've been lucky so far in that it was only this king that managed to pop the Pacta Conventa - left me with about 100 years of not having to deal with the Sejm. Would've loved to avoid it, but Austria's bonus to support heir is ludicrous, which means unless the King is old at start for an abbreviated heir competition time, I get a von Habsburg.

Oh, that looks nice. Muscovy should have an ally you can declare on besides Ottos who in return should still have Tunis. That's not lategame yet where they are only allied to each other.

Annul treaties with one and take out the other one right after.

Personally I'd just ally GB or something similarly worthless that doesn't start wars but does have a decent FL, push through towards Asia and come back for Ottos later.

I'm playing Ternate and trying to get Colonialism to spawn in my realm. I control Makassar and developed it for the Renaissance; can it spawn there or do I need to get to mainland Asia somehow? Do I need to move my capital anywhere? It is still Ternate for now.

Must I have actually discovered the New World or is merely having the idea sufficient? If I must discover it, does anyone know if I can get to exploring range of the New World by colonizing Wake?

You must have the idea and discover the New World to have a chance.

If you form a colonial nation you will get natural spread in your capital, and all your ports I believe. Regardless of the spawn.
