They were changing your units back in the old days. And imo the gap is pretty huge lategame, which makes this change infuriating. We are talking of 15% infantry and cavalry combat ability lategame between europeans and trash groups, this is massive.

Non-European infantry is about 2 pips behind Europeans in the late game. It's a disadvantage, but not a huge one. (Some of the late-game cavalry units are garbage 'dragoons', but cavalry doesn't have much impact anyway at that stage.) Meanwhile, Western units especially are rather mediocre in the early game. So it balances out overall; if anything, I'd say early game strength is more critical.

The only consistently amazing units are the High American ones.

I may have found a bug, or something that the wiki is wrong about, here's the problem:

I am France, I've 100% beaten Scotland in a war. Scotland owns Yorkshire, Northumberland, Cumbria and Lancashire - England has a core on all four.

According to the Wiki,
Demanding to return cores during a peace talk will grant you +10 trust with the nation you return cores to (Can be accumulated)
http://www.eu4wiki.com/Diplomatic_feedback#Trust

I currently have 33 Trust with England. I peace out Scotland so that they return Northumberland, Lancashire and Yorkshire to England (sorry Cumbria). However, after I conclude the peace deal and England's three cores are returned, I still only have 33 Trust with England.

Question: Have I misunderstood the Wiki? Should I have received 15 trust with England for returning three of their cores?

FYI - England is my ally, they did not fight in this war, and they are not a Great Power. I tried waiting a month and the Trust with England did not update.

Picture 1= As you can see red rectangle. It says "They will most likely accept!" And 45-12= 33 positive point to accept my war call. But i cant call .You can say Portugal and Aragon are allied together.Lets check the picture 2.
l3PLzl.jpg

Picture 2= There is no allies, truce or other things between Aragon and Portugal.Just a improving relationship between Portugal and Aragon's Colony.
Aragon's Colony try to improve relation.I think it doesnt effect this issue.
ad8jBR.jpg

So is this a bug???

Edit: I think Portugal is Defender of Faith, and i change my religion to protestant. But it must show the description of the "X" mark and give a penalty to decrease positive number( for example defender of faith -1000)

If you scroll down in the war declaration screen it should say why portugal will join if its a special reason.

Can be because of: Emperor, DotF, Guarantee.
There no other thing.I look carefully whole diplomacy screen. I think Portugal is Defender of Faith(Catholic), and I change my religion to Protestant. But it must show the description of the "X" mark and give a penalty to decrease positive number( for example defender of faith -1000) Again a display bug my thought

In the war declaration screen you have 2 scrollbars. Scroll down and it will tell you why Portugal joins the enemy side.
I know i said Portugal is DotF. But in my opinion when i hover the mouse to "X" mark, DotF must be a negative point. As you can see i have +33.

They can't join because they would join on the ennemy side first. They deny enemy side call, probably because +20 for liking you and -12 for their diplo rep. But then there is a truce, because they dishinored, so they can't join your side. The tooltip is unclear, as many tooltips, but this is how it happens. Defensive calls come first, and once they dishonored a defensive call they can't join your side because of the subsequent truce. For alliances, "allied to the ennemy" is written instead of reasons, for Emperor "they are a member of the empire" is written, apparently there is nothing for DotF, but this is a similar reason.

Is there actually a truce if it's DotF call? The rest seems right -- they can't be called because they'll get called to the defense. However, they might be callable afterwards (because it is a DotF call and not a broken alliance = truce call).

Yes, there is one. This is something you must be careful about because it can hurt you in several situations, like this one.

I dont agree with you because Portugal and Aragon are enemy each other in my game :) For example declare war against another Catholic country, portugal join my other side without considering our lovely relationship :D

As I said, and as many people explained, they are not friends, Portugal is Defender of the Faith. Read more carefully what I explained. Neither of us are probably native english speakers, so I can give it to you in German or French if you are more familiar with these.

As for your second question, I have no idea.

Quick question on colonial nations: Is it possible to get a colonial nation purely by conquering provinces in a colonial region without owning your own colonised provinces/your own CNs?

Playing GB, North America is pretty much fully colonised. Louisiana is a French colonial nation, and I take 6 of their provinces in a war. They become territorial provinces, and no colonial nation forms. I conquer two neighbouring native countries, and still nothing.

Another question :) I get a CB (Trade Conflict) against Mali. It says block enemy's ports. But Mali have NO PORTS. How can i execute this CB if someone have no ports???

That's just for the ticking warscore. You will have to win the war without a ticking warscore. The old fashioned way. Occupy his provinces.

You said "They deny enemy side call, probably because +20 for liking you and -12 for their diplo rep" Firstly Portugal +20 like me but -12 is MY DIPLO REP not my enemy. This is not true for my game so i dont agree with you.Let's check together.I continued the game so another example for you. Portugal and Spain(me) are allied.Look at the screenshot which attached(1.jpg) Portugal denys because France is enemy of Portugal. Our friendship dont count for this decision. If France and Portugal is not enemy, Portugal will accepted enemy's call. This time your "Defensive calls come first" may come true.

By the way be careful in my previous post, tooltips is not enemy allies "X"mark.
Consequently; you dont understand or not read carefully , not me.
