Well, the run would have been a lot better if I didn't loose the emperorship to a 18yo (who lived to 73) weak saxon because one elector took too long to switch his vote back to me, despite preferring me; I'd have revoked at around 1540 then.

I revoked the privilegia, that's what I meant with HRE vassals.
As for GP:
7Ur2TvA.jpg

I'll hopefully get a PU over Spain; Ottomans will be dealt with as soon as my truce runs out, that'd leave me with Ming. The others shouldn't pose too much of a problem.

I went diplomatic-religious-influence-quantity. I actually forgot to ask what to take next. Administrative?
Ok. I'm not that familiar with the HRE revoke swarm, so I can't give any advice.
Definitely administrative next.
Ming can be dealt with pretty quickly. 1300 dev is 4 wars with high admin efficiency and you still have room around it. So as long as you start Ming around 1750, there won't be any need to trucebreak. 2900 GP score in 1650 is a good position, you need to push it over 4000 before 1700 to have not too hard of a time doing your WC. If you want so, many people are going to give you detailed accurate advices, but this is better to create a thread if this is for detailed stuff.

I heard as Florence you can get ridiculously low interest to the point you can get 20k ducats in the early 1500s by loaning out and stuff? Is this true?
Correct, at maxed interest reduction every 1 d/month of income supports 4800 ducats worth of loans.

Currently doing a campaign as Aragon, and got the Iberian Wedding event, but it was before they'd picked Exploration ideas, so there's not much point in keeping them around.
If I form Spain diplomatically would that affect my ability to get the Consulate of the Sea achievement?

No, it's only an initial condition to be Aragon (you should be able to see this in the achievement viewer in game). Only a (relatively) few specific achievements require you to be the same nation the entire game.

In the AI setting I turned on 'Keep Allies and Rivals', yet one of my allies just broke a 200 year alliance an rivalled me. Are there any other requirements for this setting to work? Is there any way to revert this, maybe with a cheat or something? I kind of based my entire empire on this alliance and helped and fed them quite alot. Now that they're turning on me, this setting doesn't sound so fun anymore if it doesn't work :D

I don't know what setting you mean, but if you get their trust of you above 80 they will never rival you, and if you don't do anything to antagonise them such as ally their rival, they should stay allied to you indefinitely.

You can use a cheat to create an alliance between your country and another but it requires non-ironman mode. Open the console with the ` key and type "create_alliance [country tag]" and hit enter. You'll have to find the tag if you don't already know it http://www.eu4wiki.com/Countries. Some are obvious some are not.

There is a new tab in the main menu called "AI settings" where you can choose whether the AI should keep their alliances and rivals. I ticked the box in the first second of the game but in the end the AI broke their alliance with me after all.

Are you sure you didn't break the alliance with them because your people hate them?

(also, I think that setting doesn't block alliance breaking if they hate you, just from stuff like being the only option to rival and such)

That tab is for multiplayer. Those are the commands the AI for your country will obey to in case you disconnect from an MP game and the country is taken over by it. It has no effect of other AIs

Just a double check - is there any point in stating provinces that are either:
a. part of a trade company region or
b. part of a colonial region

My instinct is no, considering in a there's a 75% autonomy floor anyway for the former, and they're just going to turn into a colonial nation anyway in the latter. Seems like a way to save admin points to keep them territories, but maybe there's some bonus I don't see that someone else might

1615, I'm Sweden and Protestant. Conquered a bit into Denmark (upto Fyn) and a bit into the Baltics (upto Riga), going for the "Sweden is not overpowered" achievement.
However, Russia has rivalled me (in fact I'm in a war with them now) and is allied with Ottoman Empire for 100 years already. They want all my Finnish + Baltic provinces.
Out of necessity I am allied with Poland and Lithuania (although Poland broke the alliance when Russia declared and they didn't join), but they together have only the same manpower as Russia alone, and OE has even more manpower and borders Lithuania and Poland.
I'm also allied with France, but they are involved in another war so they are not aiding me against Russia. They also only have 50k troops.

Russia has 120k troops, OE 130k.
I have 60k troops, Lithuania 40k.

Considering I need to steal more land from Poland and Lithuania it's actually in my best intrest that they are small and kept small. However, I have tried to placate Russia many times, but to no avail. They stay hostile.
I probably should have tried to ally Muscovy from the start of the game, but that's too late now.
Austria/Hungary don't seem interested in an alliance unfortunately (different religion penalty).

How to beat Russia, and in the long run complete the achievement?

You're Sweden, you shouldn't have much problem with Russia. Manpower will be an issue but if you get your economy sorted you can easily supply your armies with enough mercenaries to keep your manpower up.

Expand by attacking Norway and taking one of their islands north of the British Isles, use this as a beachead to attack Scotland and England, that can be your powerbase as there will be about 800 development in the Isles all added up by this time, this will easily give you the power to take on Russia, heck you can do it with only the Scandinavia regions.

I'm thinking over my first BBB attempt.

Do we have to start as France?

It's a tad crazy but I want to try and achieve it starting as England.

It seems doable enough. Have Burgundy, Castille and Aragon (?) Rival France and join in with the Surrender of Maine war. Maybe get lucky and have the BI fire in this period. The rest should proceed normally.

The only questions I had are whether I can successfully annex France before 1500 in order to reform France.

You have to start as FRA, and cannot switch nation... so no England -> France.
