Can't tell, i'm off for the week end. But does it really matter ? I mean, is there a situation where i could retrieve succes for this savegame ? I dont think so, from what i read until now.

Thank though for taking time with me, it is much appreciated. I could buy you a beer one day, if you visit south of France.

If your game is no longer eligible for achievements then there is nothing that can be done. However, the achievement browser can also be unavailable for other reasons, for example if Steam is offline, and this may not mean that there is no hope. That is why I wondered what the tooltip said if you hover over the button because there is a small chance that there might be a solution.

Can the Knights raid an Orthodox nation?

The EU Wiki says that Berbers and Knights can raid nations of different religions, but it doesn't clarify if it means different religious 'groups' or specific religions (e.g. Sunni vs. Shia, Catholic vs. Orthodox)

They can. I was playing a game as Ethiopia and had conquered a bunch of Mamluk territory and converted it to Coptic and they kept raiding me. I had to kill them to stop it. And then kill them again when they respawned in Malta.

I filed a bug report at the time but was told that this is currently working as designed in that raiding allows you to raid any other religion, whether in or out of your own group. Whether this makes sense for the Knights is obviously open to debate (although it clearly makes sense for the Berbers) but that is a different question.

The Knights took Rhodes from the BYZANTINES and made it their base. You can’t go much further that that by raiding other orthodox or coptic states.

So has the reformation been nerfed? Havent played in a while andit seems very weak. 1590+ only England is protestant along with a couple of minors in the north eastern parts of HRE.

I'm a little bit confused: I just got a casus belli "restaure personal union" with the Commonwealth, while they never were my PU.
While I already got similar CBs, the strange thing is: Commonwealth is still an elective monarchy. I seem to remember elective monarchies can't fall under PU.

What will happen if I declare war with this CB and enforce my demands? Will I really have a PU over the Commonwealth, or will the PU be cancelled at the next monarch election?

this is due to a rare event Poland/commonwealth can get with whoever is same dynasty as their current ruler.

If you force PU PLC, they will be a PU under you, and their elective monarchy vanishes. If your current ruler is OLD, then stall the PU war for as LONG as it takes your nation to get a younger ruler. Once your nation has young ruler, peace out PLC.

Then start working on improving relations, to make sure they are positive before your ruler dies.

If this is the case, they will stay your PU subject forever after.

So: Honestly, if you are powerful enough to take on PLC+allies, I'd declare the war ASAP, and improve relations until you start it, to get to +200 relations after force PU'ing them FASTER. This is really a chance you must abuse. You can't force PU an entire PLC daily ;)

Who are you playing as, what is your ruler dynasty, what is theres?

Austria/Hasburg/Hasburg (recently elected).

this is due to a rare event Poland/commonwealth can get with whoever is same dynasty as their current ruler.

Well, they only had two allies: myself, and Brandeburg. I have my PU over Bohemia and Hungary (simple allies don't join in in your force PU wars, right?), so I may have to go into heavy debt and over force limit as they blobbed a bit (they have a FL of 122, me only 86 as emperor...), but it should be doable. My king is 24 (and funnily enough, is their current king too IIRC; a Hasburg was elected anyway, I think it was him), so I'm good there, I'll declare as soon as my truce from alliance braking is over. I already have 190 relations with them (after alliance braking).

Funnily enough, Spain also got the event to switch their dynasty to Hasburg. If I play this right / I'm lucky, that's a mighty empire I didn't plan on having that I'll get...

If you diusregard the fact that I used the sword (or more accurately, the canons I guess) to enforce the pen, yeah sure ;)
But yes, that's an achievement I should get. I might even try my first WC, even if I didn't really plan on it, as the imperial reforms are on a good way too. But that'll probably be too much of a hassle.

I'm still amazed that PU stuff is common knowledge now, except for specific cases like that PLC event giving you PU cb..

Honestly, I thought my guide would be too opaque and complicated for the community.

Glad it serves most though.

Happy 2017 all!

Happy 2017 to you all.

Is there any reason to set provinces of vital interest as a player? Does this serve any purpose, apart from negatively influencing the opinions of the countries whose provinces you declared to be of vital interest, or those countries that find provinces of vital interest that you have declared the same.

But apart from that, does it serve any purpose? I suppose in any war you initiate a friendly ally besieging a province will hand it's occupation over to you once they have succesfully occupied it, provided they or another ally have no vested interest in it?

On the other hand, wont it make OPM's for instance, who'll feel threatened, seek out storng allies, or perhaps even join a trade league?

Is there any reason to set provinces of vital interest as a player?
Your adjacent subjects will fabricate claims on them, eventually. (Quite handy for getting Cordoba early on as the Ottomans: you no-CB Granada and vassalize them, then mark Castile's adjoining provinces.)

Your allies in wars will consider transferring occupation to you.
On the other hand, wont it make OPM's for instance, who'll feel threatened, seek out storng allies, or perhaps even join a trade league?
If I remember rightly, OPMs may well feel threatened even if you don't interest-mark their provinces.

Started a game as Sweden, PU with Denmark leading ofcourse. I had hoped for a war early on in which Denmark would be weakened, after which I would declare on them. However, it's 1510 and they haven't been in a single war yet!
They got Novgorod (who hate me), Burgundy and Scotland as rivals. Burgundy and Scotland are they only nations in Europe that will support my Independence. Both of them are unlikely to be of any real assistance, Scotland having a 5k army and Burgundy needing to travel through 10 countries.

They have a larger army (2x) and a slightly larger navy. Anything besides merc spam and hope for the best, that I can try to get out of the PU asap?

Best religion for Ming? I'm thinking of switching out to Sunni early on. Thoughts?

I'd say Sunni or Shia are the strongest choices out of the ones you can easily get to. In the short run it's a pain, but in the long run, converting is a good idea if you plan to blob out, because Confucian really has nothing going for it. I'm presuming the usual zealot-base approach works (if not, I don't know how you'd convert in an efficient way).

You'll have a lot of high-development wrong-religion provinces to deal with, and no tolerance from NIs, so you want a religion with good conversion ability. That probably means going Muslim or Christian - the other religions struggle to get enough missionaries and missionary strength. Christianity opens up the PU game in theory, but in practice, are you really going to be that involved in Europe?

Hello, is there a limitation due to religion/government to having a queen consort? I'm playing as Tabarestan and had none in 60 years, even though I always have at least two RM.

Is there any reason to convert religion if I have +3 tolerance?

I'm looking to start a France colonization game, and if I take Humanism plus the National Idea Liberty, Egality, Fraternity, then I'll easily have +3 tolerance of heathens and heretics - So would there be any advantage to converting my future Maya, Inti, Sunni, Hindu and (post-Reformation) Catholic provinces?
