In my current Poland game attacked Saxony with the intent of vassalizing it. Already had Brandburg so used their reconquest CB to do it. Bohemia my ally helped. We all occupy 2 territories. I give Brandenburg 2, Bohemia 1 it doesn't want more. However I can not vassilize Saxony, the only option in the peace screen is them becoming a vassal of Bohemia (!) which it doesn't want. What gives? Or rather what caused this?
My guess would be that Bohemia is occupying their capital.

Hello Everyone,
This is my first post but i've been a lurker here quite a while. I tried to stay silent because my english is rusty (i'm french so i guess i have a free pass) but i stumble upon a problem very annoying that i dont understand.

I've been trying to get Prester John achievement for quite a while, with no luck. Finally, my actual game seems to be the one to go but, suddenly the game tells me i wont gain any achievement with my savegame.

I play with some graphic mod but they never did nothing wrong. Obviously im in ironman mode.
I'm not offline and im playing with the last patch and DLC. Nothing has changed since i started the game.

Someone can perhaps tell me what could be wrong ?

I upload the savegame, if it can do something.

Thank !

Edit : Been a lurker all this time and i post here and not on the technical issue forum... Damn me.

If you haven't done so already, the first thing to check is to try a reboot. Occasionally Steam goofs.
Secondly, have you enabled or disabled any DLC since starting the game? For instance, did you start without RoM or MN and then add it? Because that is known (and AFAICT intended) to break achievements.

I forever hate the person at paradox who decided the HRE electors only change their votes at the first of each month only. (edit: well, apparently that's not how it works. The delay for the elector to change its vote is annoying though)
Lost emperorship because of my king dying at 49 years (...), while I still had 1 year left of Annexed subject DipRep malus. No biggies, I'll just win the next election again (despite me (Austria) not being an elector... quite strange that too)
The Saxon then got re-elected a couple years because their emperor died at 52 (...), while I just allied Mainz to get the last vote I needed a couple days before, but of course I had to make the alliance the second of the month, so the 17 year old saxon got elected because the stupid elector didn't think to change his vote in time...

Any way to limit his reign like in CK II (assassination)? I'd like to avoid going to war with Saxony, as I just exhausted my (now limited, as not emperor) army on the Ottos, and it's unlikely they would make him a general anyway.

Does anyone have advice for this situation?

I have just started a Burgundy campaign. It has gone quite well. I am in the 1490's and have annexed The two Lorraine provinces, Barrois, Calais, Caux, Normandy, Finistiere, Armor, Nantes, Anjou, and Champagne. I have diplo-annexed Nevers and still have the PU's with Holland, Brabant and Flanders.

I am allied with Austria and actually have a Von Habsburg on my throne, which I thought could come in handy for a Force-PU situation in the future. I am also allied with Aragon.

The one thing I am worried about is the Dutch revolt situation, which should be hitting soon. I believe I still need Utrect, Gerle and Friesland to form the Netherlands myself. Is that correct? And this would head-off the revolts, yes?

If so, I am worried about attacking any of these three because it will turn my Austrian ally against me, since they are emperor.

Does anyone know what a good strategy would be?

If your capital is in the Low Countries region you won't get the Dutch revolt. Or you could cultural shift to Dutch or Flemish.

Forming the Netherlands as Burgundy means that you lose all of your French territory if France still exists.

You could vassalize, but that's likely going to require going to war; I doubt you're big enough to do it diplomatically, as Saxony isn't usually an OPM, and it's harder to do so on Imperial members.

@Monzon, grow a bit more and diplo vassalize them. You won't be able to entirely get rid of the economic base malus (without eating entire France or Iberia), but if you can max out the bonus from your army and navy, that might be enough.

Man, why didn't I think of vassalizing them?
Now it's to late anyway, they allied France and half of the HRE. Luckily my current king has 5 dip, I'll just ally half of the electors, that should do it. I'm still livid to have lost that second election because of a matter of days, it'll set the HRE reforms back years, especially as the religious wars are coming up. Saxony currently sits on 60 IA, but can't pass any reforms as it's a "weak emperor".

Don't integrate the PUs and you don't have a problem since they won't get hit by any of the events.

Moving your capital doesn't stop the most crippling event Burgundy gets in the Netherlands revolt sequence so it's not necessarily worth the trouble.

As for getting the other three, keep an eye out for them allying nations you're likely to go to war against and force vassal them in the process (Utrecht often allies England, Gelre often allies France). It's also possible that their relations with Austria will get low enough that Austria won't defend them so watch for that.

I have tried to reboot, without any change and i was carefull not to disable/enable any DLC during the game.

I'm going to try to launch the backup save, save the game and try again.

Ok, this is not working either. I also tried to verify cache, no luck.
That is so frustrating, i even had the chance to finally get a PU with Hungary..

Any way of switching back achievement mode ? Does technical support can do that if the save proves it's legit ?

If not i guess i'll just abandon Prester John.

Once a game loses Ironman mode it cannot get it back. Did you open the achievement browser in game when you started and confirm the Prester John was available? If you did that and something changed part way through then that is odd but does still seem to happen occasionally for reasons that have not been tracked down. If you did not check the achievement browser at the start of the game then start a new game and check again. It could be that your setup always stopped achievements from being available but you did not realise. It IS possible to be playing in Ironman mode and not be eligible for any achievements.

I understand this but i unlock achievements just before this game and nothing (as far i can tell) has changed on my side.

Farewell Ethiopia, this could have been a thing, especially with that PU over Hungary.

I understand this but i unlock achievements just before this game and nothing (as far i can tell) has changed on my side.

Farewell Ethiopia, this could have been a thing, especially with that PU over Hungary.

So, what does the game say if you open the achievement browser (the trophy icon next to the pause / game speed indicator in the top right) or if you hover over that button?

Can't tell, i'm off for the week end. But does it really matter ? I mean, is there a situation where i could retrieve succes for this savegame ? I dont think so, from what i read until now.

Thank though for taking time with me, it is much appreciated. I could buy you a beer one day, if you visit south of France.
