I am a bit worried, so here's a question.
I(Holland) am Allies with Austria, who is not only the current HRE emperor, and has a 5/4/6 ruler, but is also leader in a PU with Hungary and is therefore an absolute beast.
One of my rivals is Provence, whose only ally is... Austria. Sigh
Now, Austria just went to war with France, because Florence (Austria's ally) desired Siena (France's ally). They have just peaced out France, (after decimating them!)
and are now on their way to Siena. My guess is it will fall quickly
Here's the deal. I want to rack in some Power Projection Points, by clobbering Provence around Needless to say, in the declaration of war screen, Austria won't join me.
In fact, they are at -2000 , just to make a point I guess. However, they won't join Provence either, all be it with only 1 (ONE) point in deficit, being +30 for Defensive war, and their being at -31 (war exhaustion, sort of liking me, and involved in another war the main reasons).
So if I read this correctly, I can attack Provence, and Austria will ignore us both. And then Provence will break their alliance with Austria for breaking trust, and I won't, since I won't call on Austria anyway... Or will I? Will there be negative repercussions in my relation to Austria for attacking their ally?
I'm playing ironman, so I can't really experiment here... So does anyone have experience with something like this?
Second question: as Holland, I want to focus on trade, on colonizing and on expanding in Europe. For now. It's now 1504, and the Protestant revolution just started.... in Aachen, right next to Köln (that I have just cored). Now I have a fervent protestant province in my country, and more will probably follow. Well, that's what one can expect of course in Europe, but my question is different:
I'm inclining towards becoming Reformed, rather than Protestant. If only because it seems to be more in line with dutch history. I seem to have all the DLC present to make full use of both their belief systems, with the aspects and the fervor and all that. But which one would be better for me?
Thank you in advance!
