Game crashes after i quite a game, and now is unable to start.

Indeed - exactly the same issue as the last bunch of comments. Rolled back to 1.11.4 to keep playing. I'm on windows 7. Looks like a bug that Paradox will have to fix pronto !

In anycase - I just read that old save games are pretty much incompatible with the new patch and Common Sense DLC, so I won't be playing the new version till I wrapped up a few of my older saves...

Have you tried disable steam cloud?
Go to properties and click in the checkbox "Steam Cloud Sincronized".
It worked for me, although you have to try to start 1-4 times until it works

On linux I got it to run when steam was set to offline mode. When not in offline mode maybe 1 in 3 times it launches correctly.

So can the mods atleast make a post saying "yes we know the game is not working for many different players and systems" and lie about it being fixed shortly. Will make me feel better

Not on the forums.. I've already wasted around 4 hours trying to fix it myself, but I'm giving up now. I hope we'll get a hotfix soon (and hope it's tommorow)

hi guys,

i had the same issues. just do this:
delete game. go to document folder, delete all files in eu4 folder and the folder itself, install the game with just the main dlcs: aow res cs won ed qop, mb u can do all dlc i dont know, after that it worked for me. i guess its about the old savegames

Had someone recommend this to me on the paradoxplaza subreddit, didn't work. There doesn't seem to be a definite fix to this, random things are working for random people.

I had the game CTD at launch right as the main menu screen was to appear, but unsubscribing from the latest mod I'd subbed to made it go forwards a couple of seconds longer and unsubbing from the rest made it work. No idea why it'd do this particularly as I wasn't using any of them either.

I'm having the issue too, on 64-bit Windows 7. I've tried everything mentioned here but reinstalling, which I'm in the process of trying now.

Right - I've finally got it working (using the 1.11.4 beta) - The launcher works when I deleted Mods folder (and removed the mod entries from the settings file) from C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV and from the Steamapps folder. I have my EU4 back!

The mods are the problem. Cause since they are not updated to 1.12. Just delete everythig. If that does not work. Uninstall and delete that folder on Steam Folder and begin again with another new download

Ive been ingame for some minutes, to check out new borders and stuff, but when i tried to load an old savegame it crashed and doesnt work since then.
