EUIV Not launching

After buying Common Sense the game will not launch. I press play and go through the "preparing to launch"-screen, but after that nothing happens. I tried verifying, reinstalling, and restarting steam/computer, but the result remains the same. Any suggestions?

Try unsubscribing from all mods on steam.

I have exact the same problem, though i dont have the dlc yet - patch itself broke the game. Never used mods.

Didn't do it for me, unfortunately. Since it seems to be the patch itself I'll probably just have to wait for a hotfix.

When I try to launch the game.exe directly from the folder, i get a kernel 32.dll error. Do you guys get the same? If so, are you using winxp? (i do)

Current Situation: Most of the people having the problem are windows XP users, getting the kernel32 error when manually starting the launcher.

If Paradox cannot fix this, Europa Universalis IV officially lost its windows XP compatibility.

I had same thing when I changed to new laptop. Delete all mods from mod folder AND unsubscribe from all mods on steam. Worth a try.

it's fine for me now. However I lost all savegames, including cloud ones. (which is probably WAD btw)

Tried uninstalling absolutely everything, still no result. Even trying to launch game.exe directly doesn't yield an error report, nothing simply happens.

Yeah, the game worked right after the patch came out, but when I tried to play it a few hours later I began to experience the problem described by the OP, everything but EU4 is working normally. I have Windows 8, not XP. I tried verifying and uninstalling and reinstalling; nothing.

Having the same issue. Uninstalled and reinstalled, reverted to previous patch then restarted then reinstalled the new patch, etc. I've done everything. Game will load if I revert to 1.11.4/any other previous patch, but won't load under any other circumstance.
