First, the game runs like complete ass. I have a i7 3770k with 8GB of RAM and a dedicated GPU, a XFX 7950. The amount of lag on the map is just ridiculous, and the frames when moving around are so choppy.

I have similar but slightly lower specs to you, for example only 4GB RAM. I also use full HD encryption which eats a small amount of performance. I don't have any lag or display issues at all with Art of War. I play on Linux using a quite minimal XFCE desktop. Maybe some maintenance on OS or drivers could improve things for you? maybe a clean reinstall of Windows? What about other games, any performance issues there? Tried changing the graphic settings in the game? I'm just saying there must be some explanation and then also some way to improve things for you because the hardware should be able to handle it.

i've an i7 2.0 ghz (2630QM if you want to see the horrible specs at intel), and the game runs like before. in 1750 it's kinda the same of 1444. i also play with a nvidia gt 540m stretched on a 22'' monitor (native resolution ofc), and it doesn't lag so much (considering that i'm putting my pc on extreme settings as always). Guys be patient... if you really can't survive it roll back to 1.7.1 to get the old game which works for sure, devs have already worked on 3 hotfixes and they'll not stop until they've found a solution

For reasons that don't have to be explained I have 2 OS installed (w7 and w8). And I can assure you a clean install doesn't fix it.

I usually use W7, tried eu4 on W8 which appart from some unrelated drivers is literally a clean install and the game is still unplayable after 1600 or so.

i7, 4gb ram, dedicated GPU

Works fine on my Linux too... everyone should try installing Linux to fix their performance problems. ;)

Oh no, I said 10% instead of 25. End of world.

Or did you not know that colonies get a 50% minimum autonomy which is removed from colonial nations?

Edit: Even double checked for you:

source

That 50% is for same continent colonies. It is 75% for distant overseas just like the poster you tried to correct said it was.
And yes, you said 10% for a few years. It's actually 25% and cant be changed for 30 years which is quite abit more than a few.
So was it the person you quoted overplaying the downsides or were you actually just downplaying the effects?

Also vassals dont give manpower even though the wiki says they do, I have never seen that to be the case.

disagree with the OP.

My processor is at least one or 2 years older and the game runs very smooth. Even with all the extra provinces since the last patch.

Rebels are just more meaningfull instead of annoying. Now you can plan ahaid and they are never big enough in my 3 games that you cannot handle them. I really like the new autonomy and rebel slider systems.

I can`t comment on ming as i diddnt play this nation. Ill bet there is not much wrong with them as they have 3 times as much provinces and you could get income from trade and production i suppose if taxes are limited.

.. People need to understand that the problem doesn't come from how good are the specs of a PC.

Right now 1 year at 1700+ takes 30 minutes for me at any speed, everything past 2 is literally the same, with the game LITERALLY FREEZING every 4 to 6 days (it takes 20-30 seconds to unfreeze). It doesn't stutter. It outright freezes.

A clean install doesn't help.
A clean windows doesn't help
1.8.1. doesn't help.
The Processor isn't overheating.
Nothing is overheating actually, just saying.
Up to date drivers.

Everything I can personally think of is alright.

Just because you have lower specs and no problems, doesn't mean the OP is wrong nor your disagreement actually helps a lot.

No sane person would change the type of their OS for a game, nor it should be required to downgrade your OS in order to play.
And yet I have encountered many people on the internet telling me I should just downgrade my OS to Windows if I want to play some game or other.

0.10/month * 12 months/year = 1.2/year, so it isn't 30 years to change autonomy unless that's thirty years of constant war. Did you forget it naturally decays? In thirty years you should be able to drop it by 25% ON TOP of the 36% it naturally decays. You seriously can't handle getting 51% over the course of two or so truce timers?

I admitted to typing the wrong number. Do you want a cookie for pointing out something I admitted?

Get off your salty high horse. You're screaming "they changed it, now it sucks." Learn to think "Hey, new way to play, let's explore" and you'll be a happier person. I personally am overjoyed that random rebels don't pop out of nowhere, it's something I can monitor and directly address. The tools I have to address it are more than adequate to completely quell rebellions (they only rebels I've had to face in the last 100 years of constant conquest have been pretenders - from occupied territory!), and they offer tradeoffs that are so negligible I was disappointed when I saw that you can only raise it once every thirty years. Every county I've conquered, I've immediately raised autonomy and guess what, it works like a charm. Explore the new mechanics and learn to enjoy what they offer instead of raging on a forum like a six year old.

Why should I care what OS game devs use? If they want my ducats they had better provide their game for "masterrace linux".

All I've learned from this thread is that EU4 is lying, all of you are ruined, and that OS superiority debates are even less interesting than the whole 'historical accuracy vs. gameplay' argument.

I know I've not exactly been innocent on the matter, but I kind of figure everyone would be better off if we just waited a few weeks for the inevitable hotfixes to be released. Of course then, we start complaining about how THOSE changes ruined EU4, and the cycle can start again.

LOL. Where in the hell do you see me screaming " they changed it, it sucks"? In fact find one post from me where I have criticized any of the myraid changes Paradox has made over all the patches. That's right you can't. Because I haven't. I don't mind the change one bit. I do think the 30 year limit to manually change it should be lowered some, maybe to 20 years. Other than that, I think it's much better than before.

What I have a problem with is people like you who blindly rush to Paradox's defense and try to belittle others' opinion just because you dont agree with it, especially when you dont even know how parts of the game works and think quoting the wiki for proofs actually make it true.

So far in this thread you have accused one person of trying to overplay the downsides when in fact you were downplaying the effects.
You also accused me of raging like a six year old when in fact you are raging like a 6yo when I pointed out you were wrong.
You also say I am unhappy on my salty high horse when you are acting high and mighty and unhappy that I pointed out you were wrong.
I think maybe you should stop projecting your own actions onto other people and maybe eventually YOU'll be a happier person.
