The realm rejoices as Paradox Interactive announces the launch of Crusader Kings III, the latest entry in the publisher’s grand strategy role-playing game franchise. Yes, until those provinces got sick of Dutch rule and revolted, so the great powers decided Belgium was the best solution that precluded the revolt happening again.
AS interesting as this discussion on Belgium is, let's remain on the topic of this thread, the additions described in this dev diary.
Liking the focus on quality of life improvements and balancing with this update. There seem to be a lot of cases in this game in which players will always/never take a certain decision or action because it is so obviously beneficial/harmful, so I fully support efforts to balance this situation out. On the subject of England, have you fixed the bug (I assume it's a bug) where England starts out 1444 as a Dictatorship for some reason?
Regarding the "Form Caliphate" - I'm super excited that you no longer have to convert all of your lands.
Unfortunately I would never ever want to give up Janissaries and Ottoman government in exchange for Feudal Theocracy. I can't see myself ever uniting Islam as Ottomans, Rum, or even the Mamluks to be honest if Feudal Theocracy is mandatory, its strictly a downgrade if it replaces the unique governments.

This bug is, AFAIK, due to loading alternative start dates before choosing to play in 1444, until it’s fixed the easiest solution is to not load start dates you’re not going to play.
Will It be possible to use dynamic content for change_country_name - like event targets, variables or maybe even the system used for naming estate countries?
Will the decision to mend the schism also get a rework? Would be cool. (Like it could be an option for both catholics and orthodox countries, and like unify the religion).
That’s a start date bug. If you load up the game fresh and make sure you don’t change the start date at all, you will find England starts correctly with English Monarchy. If you advance the start date to a certain point and then reset it back to 1444 without reloading the game then weird stuff happens.
Regardless of what the devs say, start dates is basically a broken feature and it seems unlikely to ever be fixed. Advancing time is kind of cool to see how the map of the world evolves but it’s not functional as a game feature.
Renaming nations is a brand new thing for EU4. Do others get renames and are there more renames planned is unknown atm.
So we don't get any bigger changes to ruler family & PU system in way that ruler can have more children than single heir and that can use it as diplomatic tool via Royal Marriage?

''The Caliphate'' is a very generic name. It would be better as ''Ottoman caliphate'' ''Mamluk caliphate'' etc.
