EUIV Converter only for use with Steam based CK2?

I'm getting with the program..........I just can't really afford to re-buy all of the DLC at this time.

I understand WHY Paradox went with Steam.....I don't like it, (I bought a CD-ROM version) but since that is how EUIV and all PDS Titles in Future are gonna be handled. I am joining the Steam Hordes.

@Leto2626: I am like you, I have most of my PDS games from GG. I didn't quite see PDS joining up with Steam either.

Johan has said here that if you prepurchase EU4 from the same platform as CK2, you will get the Converter DLC for CK2 and have it technically solved, there being no other solution. Of course, I'd already prepurchased EU4 on Steam and had CK2 on GG, so I've emailed Steam to cancel my prepurchase so I can prepurchase it on GG.

Thank you. We've already been told that the converter is a DLC for CKII, and all it should do is look at the save file, turn it into a EUIV mod, and go about it's merry business. It requiring any other DLCs or specific versions of CKII to work is baseless rabble-rousing.

If you are among the small minority that bought ck2 at gg and have dlc there, you need to order eu4 from gg. There is no other technical solution.. ( still pissed at the amount of problems relating to the forum petition for a non-steam ck2

That was the answer I was looking for.

I'm not trying to rabblerouse. Since I Preordered from Steam. I will be reconverting to Steam just to make things easier for myself in future.

Edit: I sucked it up and just rebought everything on Steam.....an Extra $68 Dollars to Steam and PDS.

Now just how do I get rid of the GG version without screwing things up on CPU. I just reinstalled the Steam Backup from October/2012 and DID not delete the GG version first.

You should have waited until EUIV release as you get a free CK2 copy for steam with it normally? So only DLC to reorder then. Still if you have the money why not, just hope most goes to PDS I have about 120 games on Steam so no I'm not a steam hater, I just use both game distributors. If things continue like this, GG will soon only be selling steam keys, which is awkward for a game distributor to sell another game destributor's games

Couldn't you just use the steam version of CKII you'll get with EUIV purely for converting your savegame? Like, play it in you GG version, then copy the save game into your steam folder and convert it from there?

You don't even have to copy anything, both versions should use the same save folder.
