EUIII wishlist thread (unofficial)
------------------------------

One thing I would like, in the game mechanics is that once a country gets to a certain size, it's name changes to <country> empire, with their native names :

Strassburg

Strassburger Empire

Another thing, is that when a country takes a province, it's name changes. It is weird to have a Russian "Preußen"

Being able to change the names of armies. No more "Army of Italy" in the Netherlands or "Royal Guards" overseas, please.

I would like it....

to play as Austra/Spain and have a chance at keeping both under the same Habsburg rule. Fight a war agaist everyone else to enforce my right to it - and then get a new tag. "Catholic Empire" with loads of cultures and cores :)

Well, the3 freakie you can do that with modding your game anyway ;)

Doesn't hurt asking though.

While I'm at it, I wanna have "wars with a point" :)

Points are already there. You can go to war, to vassalise your neighbour, to gain territory, to gain ducats from the country, get military access (a bit pointless though) and perhaps a few more.

That would be interesting, you have to declare war aims before declaring war:

-Take xyz province.
- Retain xyz province.
- Protect xyz country/ vassal.
- For the glory of catholicism.
- Force convert xyz.

etc etc

Would need a lot of new thinking though.

There aren't "points" - those are "possible outcomes"

Here's what I mean by "wars with a point"

How about an European Balance criteria for the AI that would make all Euro countries more likely to attack the country with more VPs, since in RL all countries tended to ally against the one who got more powerful?

yes, something to simulate the european balance and protect minors is a must, I think.

One thing I'de very much enjoy, now seriously, is some tweaks to the way diplomatic good or bad relations are handled. More specificly, that it isn't based (just) on money gifts - and if it is, that the whole responsability for them doesn't rest on the Player's shoulders. Also your allies shouldn't get mad at you when you anex your adversary.

I think this has been mentioned, but I'd like the ability to conquer a province, but ask in the peace, that it go to one of my allies (at least if it's one of his cores).

I'd also like to see monarchs & leaders treated as different types, so they could have the same ID. It'd save a lot of trouble in modding.

I also would like to make it harder to kill the AI's leaders. It's just too easy now, to wipe out Napoleon's whole army. For player-controlled nations, that's OK, it's the price you pay for making a mistake. But I'd like to see a % chance for AI leaders to pop up elsewhere (assuming there is an elsewhere).

More realistic Empire Development

I´d real like it to have the possibility to change titles/ Empire names by developing in size and power.

Example: Over the years, Spain manages first to vassalize and annex Portugal and later on conquers large parts of France and Britain. It still remains the "Kingdom of Spain", so. What about changing respective "completing" the monarch´s titles or the nations title? This could be done in a way similar to the "cumulating of titles" in "Crusader Kings" (Emperor oft the Byzantine Empire, King of..., Duke of..., Count of...) and changing the country names if certain requirements are Met (Kingdom of Spain -> Kingdom of Iberia -> Western European Empire -> Holy Roman Empire of Latin Nations???).

I´d also like it to have a adjustment possibility for nation´s nationalities in this case (similar to the adding/ removing of dutch nationality to/from the spanish empire during the revolt of the Netherlands).

What about automatically including your vassals in your military alliances?

How about being able to set a goal for your ally, in wartime? What I have in mind is analagous to random missions. You could set "seige/conqure Kent", or "attack Naples". It'd at least give some ability to coordinate alliances.

I'd kill for that. WEll not kill, but I'd spank someone hard.

But it won't be in - it would allow too powerfull alliances.

You can still do that early on, specially in France with a strong country (Or not)
Conquer France (Up to 100%) Peace Treaty, Vassalize. Build up a little relation. ally.

There was a pissing little option in EU2 that I used (and I expect no one else did, or even knew was there) that was in fact the basis behind 90% of the wars from 1419 to 1820.

I do of course refer to "claim their Throne" ;)

Let's make this option (and others like it) a major one, with drastic consequences, not a well-hidden diplomatic non-entity.

Events can get you so far, but if I'm England and have a Royal Marriage with France, and I know I have a better claim to the throne than their next monarch, I want to go to war with them with the full historical and legal knowledge that I'm claiming what's rightfully mine.

The rest of Europe should know it too :D

Oh, and if they insist in having all those Indian nations in the USA (Cherokees, Lenape, etc) what about those in Mesoamerica and South America like the Tarascos and the Muiscas? Surely they were better organized politically and more worthy of being a political unit.
