EUII vs Victoria

Here's the thing: being a veteran HOI player (and loving it! ) I started to think about the good old EUII days...and I decided to check amazon to see If I could rebuy it (my original EUII copy had a very sad fate...but it's a long story).

Anyway, before I placed my order for EUII (and Imperialism 2 - another lost classic ) I started thinking to myself "sertorio my old man, why not go for the strike, and buy Victoria instead of EUII?". I mean, both games have roughly the same scope (empire building, diplomacy, blah blah blah), so why not go for victoria instead of wasting my money on an oldy, even if that oldy is the amazing EUII [bows respectfully]?

So, what do you guys who played both of them think? EUII or Victoria?

LOL - good thinking. Sounds like a solid plan.

You can get a bonus if you get Crown of the North - because it includes EU II 1.07. But I would say get Victoria if it comes down to getting only one game.

Both Victoria and EUII

Forget about Imperialism 2, Paradox games are unmatched (honestly I don't know Imperialism 2 so I might be wrong).

It depends a bit on your taste. Victoria is slightly more advanced than EU2, and may be less appreciated by some people. But it's more stable than EU2 in single player, although EU2 has a much more balanced gameplay since it's been out for a while. EU2 is probably a lot cheaper too.

Conclusion: If you can buy both, do so and say which one you like more. If you can afford Victoria, you can probably afford EU2 at the same time. If your out for a cheap buy however, EU2 is a very good option.

Thiers one simple answer to this, Get Both of them!!! :rofl: thier both great, and EUII have the largest time frame to do things in, though Victoria is slightly shorter around 84-85 years only you can accomplish alot and Viky is very involoving for the player

Mmmh. The ideal would be to have the victoria engine turning in a 1419 situation.

Today (with patch 1.01fr), I find Victoria much too easy. But I'm sure it will be fixed in later patches. Also, structurally, it lacks (with its too large starting powers) flexibility ...

I like victoria more in single player

BUT multyplayer it is bad, it don`t work correctly

So for multyplayer I oft use eu2, still!

Both, of course. I've got both on my HD, plus EU1 which I haven't got round to deleting and HoI, which I never really got into.

And of course, you'll be helping keep Paradox in business, always a bonus.

I got Imp 2 while I was waiting for Vicky, it's quite good. I especially like the trade model, but I haven't touched it since Vic came out.
