EU4 wont start through launcher, win 10

Well i figure this has been posted a few times. I wasnt able to find a place where i could submit a ticket about this issue so ill just post it here.

My problem with the launcher is that when i press "play" it doesnt boot up the game (im using steam). It just closes the launcher and thats it. There is a solution to this problem and thats if i go through the files and boot it up in compatibility mode, in order to play with mods. The other option is to just boot up the .exe file in the folder itself but that doesnt carry any mods with it.

With this most recent update, the 29.2 one, this issue still persists. Its a pretty major issue if you ask me, the launcher not performing its purpose whatsoever. Im not sure if this is a known issue, i figured if it was known it would have been fixed as soon as possible but that doesnt seem to be the case. Any news as to whether this is gonna get fixed?

There have been two launcher updates since 1.29 that have fixed most problems , but clearly not all yet.


Please try this:

- uninstall EU4 from Steam
- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.


Delete the following folders if still present:

- Steam/SteamApps/common/EU4
- Documents/Paradox/EU4 (keep any valued save games, of course)
- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/

Reboot.

Now install EU4 again and see how that goes please!

Can you clarify this for me please? You run what in compatibility mode, eu4.exe or dowser.exe or steam.exe ? Which compatibility mode do you mean, like Windows 7 or something?

Running dowser in win 8 compatibility mode is what i use to run the game in its current patch with mods.

Really, how interesting. It should not be necessary of course.

However I have since had a report that helps with problems installing the launcher, which is to run the Windows Compatibility Troubleshooter against launcher-installer-windows.msi . That puts it in a mode "skip version check". I guess we could try the above reinstall again, with that extra step !
