That's WAD.

Wish I could sum up in a few sentences how much I have complained about that one, but I'd just end up writing a 20.000 word long rant.
Same goes for CNs being able to sign a separate peace, leading to me having to no-cb and force vassalize natives because they were locked in by my CN who kept signing a separate peace without ever fully annexing them.
Can't hand over territory because they're out of the war, can't take it for yourself because those provinces are landlocked.

Absolute rubbish. It did make all costum nation related achievements a walk in the park though once you start abusing the mechanic like there's no tomorrow.

Still salty about how easy any start in America is atm. Or almost any achievement on recent patches for that matter.
I loved it when I was playing Inca and just absorbing all the CNs.

I loved it when I was playing Inca and just absorbing all the CNs.

I'm sure you loved it, but if it wasn't WAD it would be one of the biggest exploits in the game.
Scrap that, it IS one of the biggest exploits in the game, despite being WAD.

I've always looked down on exile strategies because "run away, wait, come back" isn't a strategy in my book.
It used to be my opinion, not a fact and I did get crapped on for stating it.
"It requires skill", "let people play how they want", etc.

But now?

Here's the gameplan: You run to America, grab Mexico or South America and wait until everything is colonized.
Disable autopause, leave the table, speed5 it. Come back when you feel like it and pick up 2500 dev for free.

Why for free? Because

- You get warscore reduction on these provinces, a more powerful one than any cb in the game could ever give you (I used cede area to get all of Brazil in a single war)
- None of the nations you're attacking is allowed to have allies
- CNs have fewer troops than normal nations
- Colonial provinces give 0 overextension
- CNs barely build any forts

Let that sink in.
No, really, let that sink in for a moment.
You can grab ~2500 development in 20 years fighting inferior foes who aren't allowed to have any allies, making you the #1 greatest power no matter what.

Can you imagine doing that on the mainland?

Imagine someone talking to you and saying he ate the 3-4 biggest nations at the start of the game at the same time.
You'd look at him and call him an idiot. Overextension and subsequent rebel uprisings alone would kill him in half a year.
Not to mention that you'd question his sanity. The four biggest nations fully annexed in under 20 years? Surely he must be drunk.

That player is a moron, right?

No, that player only ate the equivalent of Ming+Ottoman Empire+France without breaking a sweat because he used this amazing strategy of colonizing a province, clicking the "move capital" button and waiting on speed5 until enough stuff got colonized.

Aside from timed achievements there is barely anything in the list you couldn't achieve by just exiling yourself. A 'strategy' even someone with a mere 100 hours of experience can pull off.
Because you are the #1 GP after you're done.

On top of that we got a ton of stuff making lategame easier than it has ever been before.
Trigger CC, go revolutionary and realize that the world got reduced to an effective 3000 development.

You can do the three mountains by exiling yourself and waiting on speed5.
The Three Mountains.
Remember when that used to be worth something?

No overextension. Biggest WS reduction in the game, enemies without allies, enemies with fewer troops than a normal nation of their size, #1 GP in the blink of an eye, level 2 forts, if any.
If your capital is in the new world you become the strongest nation in the game by default, how is this working as designed?
Wish I could come to work with a beer in one hand and a joint in the other and still get taken seriously by my boss.

Of course everyone can play however they want, but it's a huge middle finger to look back at your most difficult runs and think "could've just exiled myself and gotten it in less than half the time".

Already a wall of text and I haven't even covered half of it. There's still actual exploits related to it we'd need to talk about.
But at least those aren't WAD.

And even if you don't want to abuse it, you can't. You are forced to abuse the mechanic because what else are you supposed to do? Not play natives?

Having your capital in the new world is just another way of saying "I play on very easy and can't raise the difficulty even if I wanted to."

It's disgusting.

Well OK fair points but on the other hand...I honestly couldnt care less about what happens in the americas area. Ive only played a handful of games over there since release, enough to know its not a particularly fun area.
