EU4 not opening since 1.8

Whenever I open the launcher and I press play, EU4 always instantly crashes. I've tried opening it directly from the .exe but this causes issues with multiplayer from my experience. I've tried reinstalling, opting into the new beta and so on but I cannot open the game through Steam. Advice?

Please try a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local content" in Steam-EU4
- opt into 1.8-hotfix "beta"
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/EU4 AND Documents/Paradox/EU4
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

I cannot open the game through Steam

Are you saying the game will run without STeam OK?

I've been fighting this issue for the past few days since release of 1.8, and this fixed it. Make sure you don't just delete the Documents file system, but after you delete the steam game go into the steam folder and delete the rest of the files that are left in program files/steam/steamapps/common/EU4. This is the process that fixed it for me. Hope it helps you guys too. Thanks for the help!
