EU4 no longer works on my operating system [MacOS]

Hi,
I have OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 and can't update because my macbook pro was born in 2011.

EU4 used to work fine until the latest Manchu update. First it wouldn't load with the new launcher. Then when I tried loading through local files, lots of my DLC had been mysteriously disabled. I have just tried uninstalling and reinstalling for the 3rd time and now the answer has been revealed: the game will now not load from local files either, I just get an error message saying "you can't use this version of the application with this version of OS X"

So... can I uninstall the Manchu update? Otherwise it has killed my game.

The published requirement is now 10.12, it is true. According to this list

the 2011 MacBook Pro can go to 10.13 .

FYI you can revert to the previous game version 1.28.3 in the Steam Betas tab for this game.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve updated to Sierra and now the new launcher works However the DLC doesn’t! The DLC is all ticked as downloaded on steam but doesn’t seem to be recognised by the game. Do I have to revert to game version 1.28.3 until there’s a fix or am I doing something stupid again?

The DLC doesn't work if you run eu4.app rather than starting the game via the launcher. That's a logged bug.

But if you are starting from the PLAY button in the new launcher (rather than say a desktop shortcut) the DLC should definitely work?

Yeah I’m starting the game by right clicking, properties and then browsing local files not from the launcher. The launcher still doesn’t work - I got that wrong in my last message.

Unless we get your launcher working OR they fix the bug I logged on the issue, yes, I'm afraid.

Can you take me through how you thought the new MacOS allowed the launcher to work, but now you say it doesn't? Is the launcher problem the same as before? We may need to do a clean reinstall of game and launcher.

Yes simple case of misreporting of the facts i'm afraid. after updating to Sierra i tried the launcher. it looked like it was going to work for a while but then the icon just disappeared as usual. So I tried launching from local files and this time it worked - no incompatible operating system message - but without DLC. I remembered this wrong in my previous message.

I'll try another reinstall from the right click menu in steam - let me know if there's a better way.
