I have had too much time on my hands lately (also I love maps and painting them) and thus I decided to try to make some sense of vanilla EU4's provincial division by transplanting it on a somewhat realistic map of Europe, starting with the mother of all border gore, the Holy Roman Empire, and spreading around, one region at a time.
This is what I've got so far (totally clickable for 9kpx × 8,4kpx goodness):
Provincial setup is based on the 1444 start. Province capitals marked, provinces eponymous to their centres not labelled.
Nov 21 — the Holy Roman Empire;
Nov 22 — France;
Dec 1 — Iberia and the British Isles;
Dec 2 — Italy;
Dec 4 — Scandinavia, Finland and the Baltics;
Dec 5 — Poland, Hungary, Russia, Wallachia, Moldavia and the Crimea;
Dec 7 — the Balkans and Anatolia.
Lithuania will most probably come next. Both the thread and the OP will of course be updated.
For now, enjoy!
