EU4 launcher won't launch the game.

Hello pleasant people, I hope this forum post finds you well

The launcher for Paradox Interactive's hit game Europa Universalis IV won't launch the game (that is EU4); it just creates a red warning sign saying "launching the game failed".
I have tried EVERY single fix the internet has suggested to me, but unfortunately for my situation, none of the fixes have worked!!! I am in despair; EU4 has forever been the greatest game in my steam library, and I had to sell my children's kidneys to afford its DLC, but I am left UNABLE to play it on account of the launcher not working!!!! I am on version 1.32, NOT THE BETA 1.32.0.1, and I also do not have ANY mods enabled. And before you ask, which I respect even if you do ask, yes it is past my bedtime, but my mum doesn't know so we good

The error "launching the game failed" can have many sources. To narrow it down somewhat, try to start the game from eu4.exe (eu4.app on macOS) . If that works it is a launcher problem. If it doesn't work it is a game problem. In that case, please tell me how far in the startup process you get(what is the last thing that eu4 displays) and if you get any error message.

If you get an error message about a missing VCRUNTIME or other dll file, please try to (re-)install the microsoft visual c++ redistributables. You can get the latest version from this website or directly download the installer from this link. There is an arm version(ARM64), a 32bit version(x86) and a 64bit version(x64). Current eu4 versions only need the 64bit(x64) version.

Having the same problem as 4a4b. I haven't played EU4 since Leviathan launched. When I pulled up the Steam Launcher, I deleted all old workshop items. When I clicked play, I received a red triangle and when I hovered over it the text box said "Launching the game failed." I uninstalled EU4 through Steam and cleared off all extra folders on my hard drives. Then restarted computer and reinstalled EU4. Red triangle still appeared when attempting to play the game. I have not purchased Leviathan or Origins. All other content is owned.

Any thoughts? Don't see anything in the bug reports on this.

Please try to start eu4.exe directly. You can find it if you right click on eu4 in the steam library and click on "Manage"->"browse local files". What happens if you do that?

Looks like I wasn't alone today. Tried solution in other thread updating C++: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...ing-i-could-find-online.1497235/post-27893792. Updating C++ fixed the issue.
