It does a lot of damage to my self concept as someone who can accept defeats and setbacks with dignity and restraint. Also I'm worried it might cause me a stroke or aneurysm.

If you can't accept any failure in life without feeling this frustrated, I don't think the problem is coming from the game...
This was incredibly obvious sarcasm though.Use s/ next time please.
The game knows it's never the game's fault.it's definitely the game's fault
In hindsight, the sarcasm is obvious to me now. but in my defense:
-I'm not used to seeing these types of threads on the Paradox forums (unless the title warns it), I'll be more cautious next time.
-I'm pretty sure I could have seen people using similar statements as tenketsu unironically (maybe not on the forums though, rather on reddit).
It's okay not to get the joke sometimes, or at least I hope it is because I seem to do it constantly. I believe there are much worse mistakes to make in life, like when I foolishly declared on Morroco in my latest campaign even though the Mamluks were Defender of the Faith, thinking I could still win. Spoiler: I could not.

Not your fault for believing in yourself! Next time, try and restarting as Serbia and day 1 declare on the Ottomans. I'm sure the result will be better than your Morocco game.

Also, don't forget that EU4 is notorious for breaking up relationships and causing players to sit in nothing but their underwear at their computers for days on end drinking energy drinks and eating doritos. The game should really have a warning label saying it will destroy your life and leave you frothing at the mouth cursing your faithless allies for abandoning you to the Ottoman hordes.
