Formable Nations Megathread

Hey everyone, I know a lot of people have been suggesting more form able tags for EU4 so I wanted to make a mega thread to compile them all In a megathread. Here is my personal suggestion.

Kitara - Formable by any nation in the great lakes culture group.

Kitara.png

Requirements - Own Bunyoro (4065), Buganda (4064), Nkoma (4070,) Nduga (4067), Buzinza (4061)

Gains permanent claim on all dark green provinces
Gains all pale green provinces.
Gains core on all lime green provinces

(Also maybe make the ai more likely to colonize)

So what suggestions do you have.

Speaking of delaying things, i would also like seeing the unlocking of national ideas being delayed. At this point the player can easily fully unlock their ideas by 1530, its expecially egregious since some ideas are clearly meant to represent 18th and maybe even 19th century events.
The unlocking should be something gradual that would define the progression of their country across history, early gane powers would have powerful early ideas and late game powers would have powerful final ideas. You should only be able to finish your National ideas in the early 18th century imo.

Agreed, I would maybe double the requirements, so you need to basically fill out 6 whole idea groups, making it not really filled out until the 1700s

And what is the mod? A colour one?

@Mr.Grizzly @Bandua_of_Gallaecia Since I don't know if this game supports two tags with the same name (and even if it did, it would be a bad idea to give them the same name), any alt-History version of Spain could be called Hispania, which makes more sense than Iberia for this period.

Neither one of us we're advocating for another Spain in-game, we were discussing about a the possibility of another Spanish-like tag or if it'd be better to just adjust Spain to better fit in-case Portugal is incorporated or is the former itself. Regarding name, I do think Iberia works much better over Hispania. Hispania has the Roman feel to it still and is similar to the native name of Spain, Espana, sorry I can't do the symbol on my keyboard for the proper name. Iberia became a much more accepted accepted name for the whole peninsula much later in EU IV, and I would like to see the Spanish tag pushed back to mid-late game formable, and I would have this new Iberian tag be also a mid-late game tag too. I could get behind Hispania in CK or Imperator, but I think in a game like EU, where people are, mostly, moving away from the old Roman influence, I find it more fitting to have the new tag not be more Roman based, so moving away from Hispania makes more sense to me.

So next ideas -
1)something formable for Theodoro - simple Crimea/Tauricia for virgins, OR 1000-years old past gothic kingdoms with endless permaclaims for chads (we DO able to form Rome and Mongol Empire)
2)Lombardia if you're Minlan or culture is German (now it what 800-year old Langobard state?)
I found them in the depths of forum, so don't blame me

Lombardia maybe as a kingdom to have in northern central-eastern Italy to counter Sardinia-Piedmont in the northwest, Tuscany in the center, and Two Sicilies in the south.

Arles as a tag for Arpitan culture in case Savoy switches to Arpitan instead of going Savoyard.

One of suggestions was that BUR tag can evolve in 3 ways -
1)Lotahringia (we are getting it in 1.30)
2)Arles
3)Kingdom of Burgundy (2 variations of 5th and 7th century)
And have 3 different idea sets for each.

this Ibreian debate is getting out of hand)

It's not getting out of hand, it's kind of an important discussion, portraying Portugal in Spain better is an big issue, but whatever.

1)something formable for Theodoro - simple Crimea/Tauricia for virgins, OR 1000-years old past gothic kingdoms with endless permaclaims for chads (we DO able to form Rome and Mongol Empire)

Gothia could work, though I would make it so Theodoro has the choice between Gothia and Byzantium, Gothia would be their own thing with a mix of Greek and German influence, while forming Byzantium would be them going with the Greek stuff.

2)Lombardia if you're Minlan or culture is German (now it what 800-year old Langobard state?)

Lombardy is a formable that should be in the game, a goal for the smaller Lombard states and something for Milan to want, and if people say the requirements are too small just remember that as Florence you need to take one province and core it form Tuscany.

Arles as a tag for Arpitan culture in case Savoy switches to Arpitan instead of going Savoyard.

Arles is not as simple, it's not really an Arpitan country, that would be Arpitania, link below. Arles was more of a "Greater Burgundy" thing, this would be a Kingdom of Burgundy tag, as the French Duchy of Burgundy that we have in the game and is more widely known was only one part of three of the old Kingdom of Burgundy, which also had a Upper and Lower Burgundy, Lower being roughly Provence and Upper being the County of Burgundy with parts of Arpitania. So if we're going for a Arpitan formable, Arpitania would be better, with the possibility of striving for a Kingdom of Arles. If we want a larger tag for Burgundy to go for, then just the Kingdom of Arles, if they want to go south, Lotharingia if they want to dominate the middle between modern day France, Germany, Italy and Netherlands, and if they are kicked out of France and go north then they could form Netherlands, if they integrate their subjects.

Spain is just a modification of Hispania, so my point is that it's just a different name, but still being basically the same, just in Latin. Iberia as a name was rarely used, especially in the first 2 centuries of the game.
Anyway, I don't think creating this tag is necessary either. If someone playing as Portugal unites the Iberian and doesn't want to form Spain, he's free to keep playing as Portugal and, as far as I know, the AI Portugal will do that as well.

I don't either, as I've said, I'd rather just see Spain tweaked to fit Portugal better, we were just discussing that if it wasn't possible about what the new country would be like

Well, most of the first page was about Nubia and nobody complained.
Anyway, his coment ironically sparked more discussion on the topic, since it had almost finished at that point.

I would like to see the option to reform Charlemagne's Empire/Francia as France, Germany, The HRE, Lotharingia or Italy/Tuscany if you own the appropriate territory.

I think he means it's taking over the thread and making it overly convuloted for ppl not interesting in the spain/portugal debatte, which would have been better as a seperate thread so this thread can be easier to use and follow

If people wanted to talk about another country they should've said something, it's not like 2 discussions can't happen here

If Francia is going to become a new tag, which I'd be fine with, it shouldn't be an option for France, Germany, Italy or the Holy Roman Empire, those tags represent something else. Lotharingia ideally would be expandd upon to reclaim the old land of Middle Francia and eventually seek to conquer the old lands of East and West Francia. So this would be more of a tag for the middle states between Germany and France to form, at least Burgundy and Lorraine. I just don't see France wanting to regress back to West Francia then into united Francia on their own, same applies for the Holy Roman Empire, Germany and Italy, it takes away the point of forming those other nations. But Francia should definitely be in the game.

I had the idea to limit it to culture. So Germanic, french or Latin countries could form it, but thought forming something larger first might be better considering the large amount of countries that are part of the Germanic culture.

I think it'd be fine for certain German, French and Italian states to form it, but others no, also I would considering the larger more modern tags, like Germany and Italy, to be a clear sign of moving away from the old Frankish Empire, so that's why I would forbid them from forming Francia, France forming it would be weird since it would just be them stepping backwards.

Nubia is not really a thing... it's complicated because modern sources uses nubia anachronistically when talking about the land south of ancient egypt but the word nubia originates in medieval times, the word nubian directly comes from the noba people who settled in parts of sudan after the collapse of the kingdom of meroe (a kushite kingdom). SO while there is a degree of continuity kush/meroe -> nubia this is through dispersion and assimilation of kushite culture among the new noba population. So the concept of nubia is really vague and actual nubian were just the people associated with the nobiin kingdom in the far north of nubia

Can´t wait for another Byzantium/Rome-ish name schism
