Good day all. Today is our first development diary post-release of Cradle of Civilization. I'll be talking about our immediate plans going forward and what can be expected with regards to future plans, bugfixes and looking towards 1.24.

So Cradle of Civilization was released last week and we're very pleased to read your feedback on it. It's heartwarming to see our game still growing in popularity and our team has been taking on what we've read from you. It has also been great fun to see so many people playing in 1.23 enjoying the work we've put in the Middle East. Many players advancing forward as the Mamluks or taking a minor of their choice to form Persia from the disintegrating Timurid Empire has been a real pat on the back (I never imagined Mamluks could become such a popular pick in EU's lifetime)

With regard to what we are up to now and our future plans, we are working our way through bugs reported from the community with a view to releasing an opt-in patch to fix some of the more glaring issues in 1.23 / Cradle of Civilization. This patch will be available, if all goes to plan, within the week.

When the immediate glaring issues are stamped down on, we will continue working on other issues as well as some enhancements for the game which will come in the 1.24 update. 1.24 will be a free update to the game much like the Hungary and Denmark updates, containing bugfixes and perhaps a few added goodies.

As you may have noticed, we have been giving our update versions names for a while now. So far we've had Prussia, Denmark, Ming, Hungary, Russia and Persia. Where will we look to next?

Where oh where oh where.jpg

Where indeed?

Japan needs some love! It's really cool to play a 'unite Japan' game as of now, but more depth there and in that region as a whole would/will make it more enjoyable.

That region is fun to play and has already recently received a lot of attention. While I agree that more attention could make Japan even more fun to play, there are other areas that need it more, and, probably, would benefit more from it; one of those being Italy, the HRE and Trade Leagues in general. Trade Leagues have, in my opinion, made playing in the HRE and Italy a little less exciting due to constantly having to worry about igniting a massive war for a province or two taken from tiny countries. Rather than members of a trade league being protected militarily as though they were in an alliance, it may be better if they were able to be freed, similar to the way HRE unlawful territory works, due to the loss of income by the other trade members. As far as the HRE goes, clearer mechanics and allowing formed countries (I.E., Westphalia) to stay in the HRE even if not electors would be a fun addition, as would providing some ideas to Ostfriesland (East Frisia) to remind people why they weren't members of the HRE in the first place (pirates).

i was hoping for something Eastern Roman Empire related, but South-East Asia seems kind of neat nonetheless

Looking forward to SE Asia revamp. Hoping the next major DLC will be India followed by some mid-DLC love in sub-Sahara Africa then to the Americas for another major DLC. Of course I can always get behind an HRE revamp and a boatload more HRE states and provinces to enjoy.

Maritime Southeast asian tech group/building gfx/units coming soon?
No more samurai cavalry for Indonesian and Malaysian Sultanates plz :)

Southeast Asian Nations have been sharing same roster as East Asia since EU3
And it's kind of outdated to think they are culturally same :D
This and the decision to restore the Srivijiyan Maritime empire to its former glory instead of Malaya.

Quick Question, can you make Byzantium an actually viable country to play? Currently it is ridiculous - it requires the AI to be absolutely 'retarded' and absurd luck. You cannot rival the Ottomans and thus it is too hard to ally any powerful countries, Hungary often rivals you, even if you get the Hungarian alliance they are less powerful, Poland is extremely hard to ally (read near impossible) and there are no other viable countries that you can ally. Thank you for bothering to read my minor rant!

On a lighter note, really excited and hopeful for the 1.24 patch!
