There seems to have been a Cisrhenian Republic (Essentially means the republic this side of the rhine, but since we've got Transoxiana...) too. Yes it's a total exonym and it only covered the west bank of the rhine but still, it's not like there have been a lack of attempts to fins a common concept for the rhineland.

It's worth pointing out that Sugla/Smyrna and Aydin/Tralles flip to Greek in bookmarks past 1700 (comments on the game code state that they "should not be Greek or Orthodox in 1444; [their] status as a majority Greek [cities] dates to at least after the 17th Century"), so perhaps a late-game event could be added which represents the Greek communities in Sugla and Aydin growing to become the province majority?
Yes this would be great change, AI should possibly always accept its event (with some positive modifiers) but it should be optional for player to accept it or not. (There could be negative modifiers if you don't accept it)

This is why I wrote my population transfers thread (my signature), there could be dev changes in Balkans and Anatolia that would help change cultures. For example Ottomans forced Cypriots to move out after they conquered,
or forced Yörük/Türkmens from Karaman region to move various places in Balkans.

I, for example, wanna see some Ottoman mission that increases missionary strength and decreases missionary maintenance for Bosnia to represent its Islamization.
These types of continuos changes would make game more fun.

Do you guys have any other demographics maps? We could also help Turkification of some provinces, new Gelibolu province might be? (This is example, I am not sure, it was possibly Greek)
BTW This isn't Balkan thread. LOL.

The EU4 AI doesn't send missionaries to provinces with positive tolerance, so this is strictly a "bonus for being a human".

Maybe the AI could be given an exception for provinces with a positive mission granted missionary strength modifier. Does Bengal never convert the Delta either?

This is like 2 of the worst examples. Otto (at least Otto AI) benefits from having heathens due to janissaries, and Bengal has Indian sultanate estates, and absolutely needs the dharmic lands to use them. Arguably better to have them of another religion in the first place, why would you make any effort to convert these?

The situation is different for (for instance) christian denominations new world colonies, amongst others who won't convert but really should.

Is it possible to turn into a bishopry/Bishop-Elector and have benefits of the new patch for the HRE? Maybe create Franconia?

There's no exactly a lack of Dharmic lands in india, and the reason Bengal gets that mission is that they actually did convert it in real life, one of the few places in india that actually became Muslim majority.

@mechanical_Critter That is true but considering new amount of Balkan provinces it would still be beneficial to release Bosnia as vassal to help Ottoman's aggressive expansion problems for early. If AI never converts even with huge modifiers favoring it, should be reworked.

Ottomans having a mission for Islamization of Bosnia can be good flavour.

Cologne will be tasked with making sure its lands are contiguous (e.g. by conquering Berg), which will then put it in a great position to dominate its ecclesiastic rival in northern Germany, Münster. Subduing Münster will make Cologne a dominant power in its part of Germany and grant claims on Hessen and the rest of the North Rhine area.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of the reformation in EU4 and how it plays out and I would really love to see Osnabrück (cough, Dortmund, cough) to be part of the map, for an even more realistic Peace of Westphalia. Of course I understand that splitting up Münster and Osnabrück would be tedious and Münster actually provides one of the most interesting settings in northern Germany from a gameplay perspective right now.
I hope to see one or two historical additions to the bisphoric nation in form of decisions or missions (regarding neighbors or religion maybe). Hopefully Münster will not just become a play ball for the nations around it, but maybe an important diocese in the (alternative) history of the HRE.
Anyways I'm really enjoying the game right now and looking forward to the Update next year!

To begin with the missions for all HRE theocracies, the House of God requires all (or at least 10, if you have more) of your provinces to have churches or cathedrals; as a reward, if you have a church in your capital, it will be upgraded to a cathedral (if you already have one there, you will instead be granted 2 base tax).

This would look nice for Holy Orders :)

I don't know the holy orders in the game aren't exactly well known for their cathedral building. But getting extra fort levels on their capital perhaps? Both the TO and the Knights had an impressive fortress for their base of operations. Unsure if the LO did but 2/3 is not bad.

By encouraging its further growth, we will secure a bountiful economic dividend in future!"

For this purpose, we should establish a military order open only to noblemen. This order, with St. Michael as its patron, is going to teach our nobles to pray and to receive the sacraments with a chaste soul. In this way, they will acquire the discipline and zealousness they need to defend our bishopric from its spiritual and other enemies."

Sorry but the idea Sets are Kind of unmatching.

As example cologne. I live there (more or less) so I can tell a lot.

Cologne was more Diplomatic than Militaristic. The Troops were kind of weak (why discipline?). The Economy was wrecked and the provinces autonomous for example Westfalen.

Cologne had some weird annexing ambitions including Münster and berg. With berg they had in 1444 an actual inheritance contract if the leader dies which was mysteriously never worked. They had kind of a grip on Münster but in the Soest feud they almost lost it.

Cologne switched too Protestantism and back - tolerance to heretics or missionary strength is ok

Cologne ideas should focus on aggressive expansion, dip rep, dip slots, defensiveness (if you’re in cologne for games come watch for the parts of the wall. For example: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gereonsmühle sorry just German or google Stadtmauer KÖLN which was the biggest in Central Europe in that timeframe) , trade efficiency ...

Why no one mentioned the three wise men’s shrine which led to pilgrims in cologne. That would be really great to gain something out of that.

In addition the archbishop of cologne crowned the German king because in his clerical province was Aachen where the king was crowned until 16. Century.

Sorry I’m actually in a hurry

Update: BTW. If someone suggests Cologne wasn’t capital of cologne and should instead be named Bonn, it’s false. Bonn was Capital After 1567, 1288 -1566 it was Brühl (alt.: Bruehl).

Edit2: Stadtmauer

Great changes so far, I am very excited about this new update coming soon?
I have one grievance, it is very small but its erking me, so here we go.

German HRE members under 50 dev should not have their rulers be counts. All rulers of HRE countries were princes. Counts were subservant to these said princes. Making counts rulers of sovereign nations just isn't correct. The reason why so many royal houses of the world are german in some way is because every independant nation had a ruler with a level of nobility equal to other sovereign nations (princes and kings). The king of France would not marry down to a countess but marrying a princes would be acceptable.

Quick language lesson:
Graf - count
Prinz - prince
Markgraf - margrave
Fürst - Independant ruler of a country but not quite a prince

Grafen would have lands but were under the direct jurisdiction of a sovereign prince. None of the nations present during the EUIV timeline were ruled by counts.
Markgraf is a title given to the boarder regions, there rulers being style prince (sovereign) markgraf von Baden (for example). A fürst is a count who had been elevated to status of independance (only under the HREmperor).

Summary in descending order.
Holy Roman Emperor (Habsburgs - Austria usually)
Kings, Princes, Arch-Dukes, Arch-Bishops etc (all sovereigns of independant nations) (Bohemia, Austria)
Counts and other subservant feudal vassals (not sovereigns of indepedant nations)
Baron, knights etc.

Short anecdote to finish off.
My aunt married the prince of Reuss-Gera and she told a story of his father or grandfather. This man had been in love with an actress who he invited to his principilality to attend a party he was hosting. How exactly it happened I do not remember but she must have declined his advances in a way that offended him so he said, "madam I wish you to leave my kingdom within the next 24 hours" and she replied "oh dear sir, I wouldn't need more than 2". She was refering to how tiny and insignificant his lands were. --> Princes can have small countries

Edit: actually there a few branches of the reuss family, I am not sure which one.
