Looking forward to the new SEA update (as a person living in SEA myself), especially the fact that we Singaporeans finally get some representation.
That being said, considering the fact that the Kingdom of Singapura fell in 1398 (only 46 years before the game start), could a Singapore releasable tag be added? Singapore should also have a natural harbour modifier (that was partially what attracted the British to colonise in 1819).
Possible Singaporean National Ideas:
Traditions: +10% galley combat ability, +1 merchant
Ideas:
Legacy of Parameswara: +1 legitimacy
(The last prince of Singapore, Parameswara, was also the first Sultan of Malacca)
The Legend of Badang: +10% army morale
(Legendary Singaporean hero, mentioned in the Malay Annals for his superhuman strength)
Port of call: +20% global trade power
(Singapore was a historic entrepôt and still continues to be one to this day)
An Impenetrable Fortress: +25% fort defence
(When Singapore was colonised by the British, one of their aims was to create a 'Gibraltar of the East', or an impenetrable fortress in the heart of SEA. Also the Kingdom of Singapura was notably able to withstand a Siamese and Majapahit naval assault during its lifetime.
Orang Laut: +20% national sailors modifier
(The Orang Laut were a historical seafaring ethnic group that lived around Singapore and the Malay peninsular; they were often, and in Singapore's case, vital in patrolling sea routes to keep them free from pirates, while directing trade towards their employers' ports)
A Chinese minority: +1 accepted cultures
(It is said that Singapore has one of the oldest overseas Chinese communities in the world; in fact, when the British landed on Singapore, they noticed a substantial Chinese minority relative to Singapore's population at that time.)
Interfaith exchanges: +2 tolerance of heathens
(Reference to the interaction of Muslim and Hindu merchants in Singapore)
Control the Straits: +10% trade steering, can hire marines
(Reference to the sheer importance of the Straits of Malacca to control of trade)
Ambition: +25% naval force limit
